I got into a grad program!!! yay!
it just hit me now though that i'll be working full time and for the summer in grad school full time too. now to come up with the $13,000 in 3 weeks to pay for it.

oh, and for once my kickball team did well and actually played as a team!

Day 6 of no beer and life is fun..!!

because I have tomorrow off and Monday is a bank holiday and am just about to leave the office to go sailing for the weekend and the weather is looking ok!

A 3 day weekend coming up, 2 barbecues planned at the weekend, all our vegetables are sprouting stuff and the wife got offered a very good job at one of the best wineries in the area.

I'm ectastic today as I had an opportunity for the first time to see the renowned Bamberg Symphony Orchestra perform. It was an amazing performance, especially the Tenor who sang. It was a memorable evening and the concert was food for my soul.

Well done on the 7 days! Ooh it's like AA in here. I've got 15 days now. 3 Lions is nearly at a point where his alcohol virginity has grown back. I got an e-mail from the Augustiner brew master yesterday. Wanted to check if eveything was ok. I've explained the situation, so no worries.

We should start a day-counting thread. I'm on 15 days without smoking and 7 without alcohol. And no sleeping problems with the amount of work lately.

I´m extra super happy as Grinner just fixed up my DSL connection (and gave me lots of helpful computer tips to boot), so I am not longer in the horrible land of analog. Pity the weather is too nice to stay inside on the internet...

I have a chapter in that book. The first book, I have two chapters and pretty much edited the whole thing. I even have a royalty statement from the first book although with a big fat ZERO going into my bank account. Still pretty cool and makes me happy.

Anyway. I'm actually reasonably happy right now. Granted, 2 beers have been downed apres travail, as they undoubtably never say in France, because they are too fucking busy blocking up roads and striking to ever do any bloody "travail", thus negating the possibility of them drinking any beer "apres" it. Wankers.

Oh, yeah, I'm quite happy anyway. Don't fancy punching anybody, not pumping with adrenalin fuelled hatred of humanity, nothing. Actually feel like being pleasant to somebody. Or watching TV maybe. Yeah, TV man. Cool.

"B" is an initial only. My Grandfather was Georgie "B". I was named after him and there are conflicting stories about where his "B" came from. Most likely from his Grandmother and shortened to "B" so he wouldn't have a girl's name.
The books will go to University libraries around the world and some labs will buy them. Now if you want something to put you to sleep, may I suggest this. That makes me happy everyday that I think about it. Twas a lot of fun.

My room is clean! I feel like a kid saying that.

But I still have the kitchen, bathroom, living room, hall, office, kids room ...

She is German and was an Au Pair. We both lived in Germantown (Maryland that is). That makes me smile every time I think about it.

had a nice afternoon shopping, actually had a really nice sales clerk at one of the shops, still cannot find the perfect summer shoe, but I will not give up the quest. Even got a cute dress for a special party coming up.

Happy - Ha! Half of my place is clean!
Not so happy - Unfortunately, the back half, so if anyone were to come over it would like like nothing had been done

I finally got my fawlty Fahrzeugbrief corrected today. It only took me 5 hours, 2 trips to the KFZ-Stelle, and one trip to TÜV. They weren't even rude correcting the 3 typos from my car import 2 years ago. And, I saved €11.40 because I would have otherwise had to pay for a new-style Fahrzeugbrief anyway.

I get my first official 3 day weekend in 6 months this weekend! I only get 6 official holidays a year which makes it hard when living in Bavaria and seeing all these slackers get something like 38 days off a year

I've left for work at 6:30 on many Bavarian holidays and have had to swerve around the drunks coming out of the clubs in the morning (God bless them). It's depressing. But tonight, I'm happy. I'm also injured and can't do much. Maybe I should post that on the other thread...

However, this is a happiness thread, so yay for 3 days off!!

My cousin's wife-to-be is pregnant (due in September) and today I found out she is having a girl! And they are also getting married on my birthday... hmmm... (they're just having a small wedding with their immediate families, so we are not invited but hmmm anyway).

Me and my sweet and dear husband are heading to Toytown Munich to paint the town and to shop at my favorite store Ludwig Becks !

A friend came round and put up all my shelves for me, which means I can empty the rest of the boxes left over from moving!

Love my neighbors, they bought 12 bottles of mineral water for me... I don't have a car, so buying water is always a pain, and they sometimes do it for me. They're awesome!

My puppy (I know you are all sick of hearing about this, so you can skim it) peed twice and pooped once on our evening walk!

Willi finally arrived today and he's everything we hoped he would be! The most adorable, cuddly little kitty ever. He didn't waste any time being shy, he's been cuddling and playing with us all evening. He has conquered every dust bunny in the house and watches every move we make. Right now he's perched on the arm of my sofa chair fascinated by my typing.

We'll see if he lets us get any sleep tonight.
