I am
seriously pissed off today because I have the flu. I got the flu from a certain male person who also had the flu and who got his flu from his stupid work colleagues who had to go to work despite being ill. So thanks a bunch, now I am ill after nursing this certain male person healthy the whole of last week, nobody is here to nurse me better and on top of it all I lose out on my earnings until I am healthy again seeing that I freelance.

Just got an e-mail from my Spanish teacher that I passed the class. Finally! I took the final in mid-February!
I am finally done now with mandatory Spanish (language) courses!
Now I just have to write this one termpaper from a year ago, and I will have my Zwischenprüfung (gotta do that by this summer), and then I will have a huge weight off my shoulders!

shoot! lunch break over, so here's a quick list- i'll update it tomorrow or next week.
my new apartment- i looove the location, people are nice in the neighborhood, at night pretty view of the Milwaukee skyline (not that there is one, but our fake little one we have is nice, but no comparison to Chicago), 2 blocks from the beach- incl. a bike/run/rollerblade trail, 1 block from South Shore Marina, 1 block North and 1 block South are parks, great locally owned stores near by. (downfall, the actual apartment is a dump).
work- my workgroup is all female. super duper nice. we went out for a nice lunch yesterday, and i have some gorgeous flowers they gave me on my firstday (mon) which is nice because i've really wanted to get flowers from someone other than my mom, myself, or the girls i was an aupair for since it's been a good 1.5 yrs!
2 weddings come up at the end of June- beginning of July.
G the goldfish (my fish is named G)
Washington DC was amazing last weekend! Saw great people, in my fav city, had some good crab cakes, and enjoyed going out in Adam's Morgan Friday night. It's also nice seeing people who care about you and are happy to see you and think you're fabulous- great hugs (and drunk catching the last metro of the night escapades) when you haven't seen him for a year!

Told a nasty client to go to hell and take his money with him
No more endless and pointless meetings, no more hassle and aggravation, he'll torture somebody else now and that makes me so happy, I cannot understand why I didn't tell him to take his business elsewhere months ago

Is that you hanging off that glider HEM?
Yep - well I'm in it so to speak... It was probably also my son driving the winch under supervision...
What you see under the glider is the cable parachute to prevent 400m or so of steel cable falling
on the head of the winch driver after release.

Wow! I am impressed. I have never had my bike stolen either but then I don't use it much and only around Neubiberg. Makes me think I should invest in one in Heidelberg as well some time.

I picked it up today and realized that the detachable front light with five fresh batteries is missing. I am full of Schadenfreude (which is a kind of happines) as the frigging batteries are kaputt and whoever stole the light had to buy new ones.

Don't do it - I've left bikes all over Munich and never had a problem, but Heidelberg is a different kettle of fish. I even had a bike with a broken pedal exle thingy stolen from a cellar. Thieving students there

Because a manager I work with just caught me about to kick-off about something and said "Come on, Full Metal Jacket gal!" which made me laugh a lot.
Me at work:

hahahhahah that is funny - it also got me to laugh and calm down a bit, because it isn't that important really.
So some techy fuckwit doesn't know the difference between technical design and functional design?
Pffffft.
My brother just had baby girl which is lovely as I can at last buy pink, fluffy, girly stuff!! (I have 3 boys!)

I managed to knock a snooty chick down a peg. The only other woman at dinner last night without a head of grey hair (my mom's friends, ok) and she starts going on about the dustbowl of the western USA, the mormons, languages and linguistics, and then asks me where I live. I said Munich. Her:Oh, but you have obviously never lost the accent. Me: No, I would sound stupid with a German accent. Her:What do you do Me:I'm a translator. What do you do? Her:I'm a housewife, I used to work in the city but I have a 6 year old and a 9 year old. Me: How interesting, I have a 6 year old and a 9 year old as well, but I just quit my corporate job to go freelance. Her:I have a friend in the US who actually interned in Washington under Bush Senior. Me: Must have been about the same time I was there doing my Internship. Her:Where did you study? Me:Political Science in Salt Lake City and Heidelberg. Her:Oh, so you know about Utah. Me: Yes.
She actually seemed like a nice person under the know-it-all exterior. Oh well, made me feel better. (Yes, it's really boring here, I can't wait to get back)

Got a lendies of the dvd set of
Planet Earth and it's AMAZING. One overhead shot of
Iguazu Falls was just stunning and it brought me right back to standing there, awestruck by Garganta del Diablo for hours, humbled by the raw power of nature, millions of litres of angry river cascading into a misty abyss. Gave me itchy feet again and made me feel alive - que bueno y no abandones los senderos. Thanks Marshbot

I plan to have my own business by May 2008 so I can be free to work as an artist independently while having something to subsidize it. The first step in my business plan was implemented this week and I received a “thumbs up from an investor who liked my idea. Although I probably will not take on this investment it makes me excited knowing a successful entrepreneur likes my plan and is encouraging me in my endeavor.
