Hagenbeks is quite good albeit rather expensive IMHO.

The "rest" of my family went there a few weeks ago - were rather dissapointed
to find that the reptile house & aquarium (which used to be quite good) no longer
exists pending a rebuild.

My wife made a pretty good video of a visit 3 years or so ago.

True, but on the other hand you get much more to see than in normal wildlife parks etc.

Also (usually) Hagenbeck does not receive any help from the state, so they need the money.

Actually this year the number of visitors was so low (due to World Cup and extremely hot weather), that they are really struggling now, and afaik will get some money from the state as an exception.

We live opposite to the park, it's quite nice to wake up hearing the donkeys or birds there...can also be quite annoying during mating time to wake up at night from the animals' noise blink.gif

You can also get there with the following buses: 22, 39, 181 or 281 (all stopping at U-Bahn Hagenbeck's Tierpark).

Ooh it looks pretty. I see you also have a Chinesischer Turm (or something similar)! Is there a whole oriental theme there, or just those buildings on the photo?

Somewhat different - but we like to go to Wildpark Lüneberger Heide
http://www.wild-park.de

The Greifvogelvorführungen (twice a day, April - October)
is excellent - you can see both in one day as the presentations
are different.

In past years they have had a special exhibition of snakes etc
which fascinated my son - he spent hours in there handling
snakes of various sizes (before anyone asks - not poisonous ones).
