Hi,
I've just moved to Munich to work as an Au Pair for a year and am finding it hard to meet people as I don't speak german. Where do the 18-20 year olds go around here? It's easy to find info on the net for the older generation but I can't find very much for the younger set. I don't mind what it is or what type of music just as long as its popular with people my age.
Thanks!

Kilians followed by Kult Fabric.
Also, you may want to get in touch with the lads about your age from Eurocopter. Sure they'll be interested in taking you out on the town.

One suggestion for a club you could try...
NachtgalerieAddr: Arnulfstr. 17
Tel: (089) 32455595
Website:
www.nachtgalerie.de Nachtgalerie is located in an old railway building just beside Hackerbrücke. It's split into two large rooms with a sort of chill-out section in the middle. They've not put much effort into decorating the place so if you arrive too early it can resemble a grotty disused warehouse. The door policy seems to be pretty gentle. I've been there a couple of times and the doormen seem to be generally just loitering about chatting & smoking. Having said that, I have seen people being checked for ID, but that's about it. Not a bad spot if you're 18-25 and in the mood for a party.

Wirtshaus on Leopoldstraße after 11pm, cocktails for €5! Went to one club at Kult Fabric on sat but it was crappy music which equals crappy club.

My dad's sort of gone to China for five weeks, leaving me here alone. I've never been to Munich before and don't really know anyone here..where are some good places to go out? And good clubs?
I'd appreciate any tips. I'm an 18-year-old Aussie girl if that helps to narrow down some places.

Me and a few of my mates(aged 17-20) will be coming to Munich for a long weekend in december. I have a few questions and would appreciate it, if someone could shed some light for me please.
firstly: what is the legal drinking age in Germany, i was led to believe that it is 16 for beers, and then 18 for spirits, is this true?
secondly: What is the nightlife like in munich? What places would you recomend for a group of 17-20 year olds
thanks in advance

As for the legal drinking age, you are correct, 16 for beer and 18 for spirits.

Can't recommend any nightlife, I'm too old, but bare in mind that if you are under 18, many nightclubs will want ID, which they may wish to hold on to and at midnight you will have to leave. There is a thread about this I seem to remember.
EDIT: Yes there is,
here.

For young people, just go over to
Kultfabrik and take your pick.
Volksgarten (no TT Link?) or
Milchbar are frequented by people looking to dance early into the morning. It might be tough to get in after 2am if you have only guys in your group though.
Most locals (myself included) are dismissive of Kultfabrik, but it is probably fun if you are new to Munich and only go once.
Note: Neither of the bars I mentioned are actually in Kultfabrik (I think it is called Optimalwerke, and next door), but that’s what I call that whole area.

I know that some of my daughters friends have produced their own lamenated ID with a false DOB. If that happened to be related to a school etc. in England then I'm not sure the bouncers would really care. You shouldn't, of course, ever try to do this...

It's been a long time since I was a Teenager so does anyone have any ideas of where to take a 17 year old celebrating her 17th Birthday? I believe she may be out til all hours if there is an Adult present so no problems there.
A lot of Pubs and Clubs are for over 18s only...so I'm a bit at a loss. Apparently she would like to go Dancing...any ideas please??

Dont know their taste in music - but my daughter and friend (17) are going to "We are Scientists" in concert at the Georg Elser Halle. Thats their idea of a good night out. Otherwise they just complain that there's nowhere to go unless you can get an i.d. from somewhere. They've been to M-park a few times but only until midnight when they have to leave. Otherwise they love going to the
Hard Rock Cafe for something to eat - or to Vappiano in the
Fünf Höfe for Pasta etc and to watch the world go by.

Sorry -meant to say the concert is on March 29 - the Hives are also playing around that time too ...
