Afghan evening at Lemar restaurant

So, seems I got convinced at the Tapas night to plan the next Ethnic night. So, Thursday 24.08 at 8pm there will be a TT table at Lemar (Brunnstr. 4) for an evening of Afghan food.

Don't think I've even had Afghan food before.

Afghan food is nummy - when my neighbor got married (to an Afghani guy) I went to their party not only because I knew he had done all the cooking!!! (I was a bit concerned that she had done the cooking, she's polish, not my favorite type of food).

but Polish food is great- perogies, kubasa, holopshi, borstch... now I am hungry.

Ski- Afghan food is alot more chilli flavour than curry. Kind of spicey, alot of lamb to choose from if I remember right from last time I was there.

Opps forgot to say that I am now a definite with +1.

No - I think I should have said, Polish food is ok, but I so much prefer Afghani food!

I'd also like to come to this - sounds lovely.

What are holopshi? I might know them as something else

cabbage rolls to non Slavs.
dependin on the language they are holopshi or golopshi.

yep they are... gettin some at christmas.

If they're stuffed cabbage rolls then they may be "golabki" (sp?) - at least that's what a Polish friend of ours calls them, or "sarma" for the Balkan version.

Reminder- we are going for Afghan food on Thursday, don't want to disapoint anybody in thinking the will be getting my fav foods of slavic origins (holopshi, perogies and kubasa).

okay everybody, keep your fingers crossed, that the restaurant can seat us all. I called, but they will call back, they have to do some rearranging. We might not get a table now til 20:30 due to the larger numbers.

Okay, finally spoke with the restaurant again... we can take all 20 (they normally do not allow such a booking, but I am very charming), but the reservation is now for 20:30! Sorry, we cannot take more TTers on this event. But the restaurant is very small.

PLEASE ALL NOTE THE TIME CHANGE TO 8:30!

I stumbeld onto a website yesterday which descibes in detail, the most famous serial killers in history and their crimes, instead of moving along like I should have, curiosity got the better of me and I spent a good part of the day reading all the grisly details. Anyway I managed to freak myself out so much that I couldn't sleep at all last night, I kept seeing Ed Gein and Albert Fish peering out from my closet and was far too afraid to close my eyes for fear some psycho would pop out and scalp me. Needless to say I'm not sure i'll make it until 8:30 without falling asleep. I have vowed never to go back to that website.
