Where to buy them in Munich

Anyone know where in Munich I might be able to buy these things, or something similar? I've got to transport lots of things back to the UK and being able to reduce the volume means that I might stand a chance of seeing out the back of the car...

I'm sure I've seen these before on TT but heavy use of the search function didn't reveal anything useful. Cheers!

try the Home Shopping Europe Network, its based here in Munich. Think the web is www.hse24.de
Saturday
Tschibo has it

Thanks folks, that's great. If anyone has a suggestion for an actual shop which I could go to in town that would be even better, but if nothing comes up I will certainly buy them through one of the mail order companies.
Topsy
the Tchibo bags are in their newest offering for this week, so you should be able to pop to any Tschibo outlet and buy them (while stocks last)
find your nearest Tchibo branch here
or if you've a Tengelmann close by, then have a quick reccie in there - Tengelmann sell a lot of Tchibo stuff (although not always the full range)

Fab... I might even be able to get them in Garching then. Thanks Topsy

I've never heard of such things, actually - they look quite good.
Could you use them for storing e.g. summer clothes in winter, do you think, or are they best reserved just for travelling?

Let us know what you think to them if you pick them up.

good question. i'm contantly changing the contens of my closet to accomodate whichever season is around. i would also love to store some things in the basement without fear of everything getting all moldy.

so yeah, tell us how it goes!
Hammonia
You can use them for storing clothes, duvets etc. - quite handy.

I got some from penny a while back, they usually get them a few times a year. If you can't find any, I can let a package of them go for 15 Eur.
5 less than wht I paid.

If you don't mind washing and ironing your autumn/winter wardrobe every time you take it out of the bags they are just fine. We only store the feather beds and winter coats in them, very handy.
Showem
You can just use heavy duty garbage bags and a thick elastic band or twist tie. But go for the bags if they are at Tchibo this week.

hmmmm - suddenly this bag idea has lost all its appeal cool.gif

I bought some at Galleria for a friend, the trouble is, they don't work well. Air goes back in. She did not use them in the end.

Good luck,

Nady

Update: No shops in Garching are stocking them. If anyone happens to be wandering between Marienplatz and Sendlinger Tor and passes that monster Tchibo tomorrow, would you mind popping in and having a look for me? Otherwise will order them online instead. Thanks!
Carm
Funny, I was flipping channels at 3 am last night, and on SuperRTL, they were advertising those bags. But again its online ordering.

I wonder why the link in the first post says that they are not suitable for down duvets and the like.
benpanter
They arrived yesterday, and I gave then a trial run this evening. Absolutely great - my kingsize duvet went from this:

to this:

Unfortunately somewhere along the line I got the descriptions mangled and bought double packs rather than singles, so now have 8 of the things... oh well...

From those pictures, I can't really tell if it's smaller in volume or just more wrinkly, but glad that you are happy with them Ben.
benpanter
Yes, agreed. The big red valve is the same size in both pictures, and the 'shrunk' version is about a quarter the size of the stuffed bag.
Katrina
benpanther, I'll have your spares! Love these things. The travel bag one is fantastic for folk like me who can't resist a bargain. Leaves more room in the suitcase for new shoes smile.gif
benpanter
I'll keep you in mind! I tried a few other experiements last night, and it turns out that they are good for packing incompressible items like DVDs and CDs into easily handlable blocks too. Who would have thought it? Sponge cake didn't decompress so well though, and the less said about the exploding yoghurt the better.

So, does anyone have any extras of these still? Or know where might be selling them now?
(Like today, gotta have them right now, as patient as I am rolleyes.gif)

Guess what?
Try here.

After losing that email I need a break. smile.gif

Tschibo had some last week. Maybe they are still on the shelves in a tschibo somewhere if you are lucky.
DDBug
Last week! Ok, if anyone is near a Tschibo and sees them, please let me know, I will go hunting myself this afternoon.

Ordering on-line just does not provide that instant gratification I do so crave. Sorry Sea-King.

Going into PEP later shall look there, 2 places there or 3.
Ruthie
I need some as well .. please post if you find them somewhere. Thanks!

Those bags are extremely usefull... just a pity that they do not reduce the weight of the packed stuffs too wink.gif . Anyway, just in case you cannot find them at the store you can still order them online here:

http://www.tchibo.de/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfi...oryName=phase_5

I also bought some at OBI... do not know wether they are still available.

Dammit! I was just at OBI yesterday, didn't even cross my mind to look there. (Then again, I didn't decide to put away the summer duvet until this morning and realized the vacuum thingy would be a great idea).

Hi,

does anyone know where to buy vacuum bags?
I will be moving few weeks later, vacuum bags will help to save spaces.

thanks
Carm
check Tchibo, they were on special a few weeks ago.
Kay
The search function is your friend: Volume-reducing vacuum clothes storage bags.
joegao1
wow, thanks Carm and Kay

I didnot expect to have answer within couples of hours.
BTW, I just check their website and they do sell vacuumbags ...
but since I never bought stuff from Tchilbo , i would like
to know whether they have most of the stuff in their shops,
besides in the online shop?

thanks again

I just bought some on e-bay that arrived today, although I didn't read the measurements properly and they're huge!!! I guess that's what the 126cm x 90cm XXL Grosse means - duh ph34r.gif

Anyway, here's the link to the main e-bay site:

I use them when I go home, you'll be amazed how much space you'll gain in your luggage. I had 2 suitcases worth of clothes fit in one suitcase after using the bags. You just have to be sure you fill the bags properly, trying to even everything out and offset "hard spots" so that you get the flattest/thinest package (when traveling). I haven't used them much for seasonal storage but I think this is about to change as my attic space is shrinking sad.gif
Scogs
REWE are selling them at a discount this week (at least they are in our local one)
DDBug
Oh!! Thank you!!!

Whilst at home in Ireland recently, I bought some storage bags which allow you to attach a vacuum cleaner and suck out all of the air, compressing clothing etc to a fraction fo its volume for handy storage...

I just bought some on ebay and there was loads.

They work quite well. There is an art to not sucking out too much air - no comments plz.

I use them when I overshop while traveling. I can get twice as much in my suitcase. Once it is closed, I don't care if the air leaks back in. I suppose the security folks at the airport have fun with them!

I haven't had much problem with wrinkled cloths. When the other option is getting rid of stuff, I choose ironing.

IKEA have loads of them. smile.gif
