For anyone needing to hit the Central Station in Berlin in the next few hours, you might want to delay your trip. Apparently a suspect suitcase has been found and the polizei are evacuating the station as a safety precaution. I imagine this will delay trains throughout the system?

this happened in Munich yday but it was a false alarm.

quick translation: at hbf yday police treated a deserted trolley with suspicion. sniffer dogs didn't find any explosives on it, it was found to contain clean clothes, food and reading materials, so the trolley was brought to the Lost and Found. eventually it was found out that the trolley belonged to a Romanian woman who forgot it when she got in a taxi...she only realised she'd forgotten it when she arrived at the airport!

Yeah Im sure its nothing but I imagine if they are evacuating the stations they are holding the trains? Or do they let them risk going through to avoid system wide delays? Hows it work, anyone know?

but wasn't there a 'suspicious' bag last week in Köln or Düsseldorf at the Bahnhof? But was proven to be a prank, was suppose to look like Anthrax but was baking powder or something.

this is all getting scary.

Real bombs were apparently found in Dortmund and Koblez a short while ago and since then a number of unacompanied bags have been suspected as such all over the country

Love this sentence in the Spiegel article - the suspicious suitcase contained only clothes and vegetables (!). laugh.gif

I SUSPECT that Ms. Peacock committed the crime in the airport with the cabbage!

Bomb scare at Freising railway station this morning also.

Crud! This is all happening pretty fast. First Dortmund, then Koblenz now Berlin?! This is too close to home.

Any word on who might be behind it? Statistically speaking, it's probably an Arab group.

Cabbage is indeed scary.

As is baking powder.

And isnt it possible to make bombs with baking powder?

Even scarier.
