Miroslav Klose has been named Germany's Footballer of the Year for the 2005/06 season in a poll of the nation's sports journalists carried out by Kicker magazine.
The Werder Bremen striker, who won the Bundesliga and World Cup Golden Boot awards, beat Germany and Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and Bayern Munich left-back Phillip Lahm to the award, which was won by Michael Ballack last year.
Ballack finished fifth in the poll, behind former Bayern Munich team-mate Oliver Kahn.
