English-speaking doctors in Mannheim or Heidelberg

Does anyone know of any good english speaking doctor in either Mannheim or Heidelberg? as i've had many problems this year and i think most might be down to bad communication with previous doctors.

i got this info from a friend at work for an English-speaking dentist in Heidelberg. no idea how good or quality, but apparently he has u.s. dental school qualifications.

I go to a very good GP doctor in St. Ilgen, which is about 10 mins away from Heidelberg. His name is Dr. Martin Horn and he speaks good english...very friendly and helpful. I'll find his number for you, if we're allowed to post it here?

but how to reach him without a car? Leimen is hard to reach via public transport.

Leimen can be reached with the tram number 23.

According to VRN.de you take the 23 from Bismarckplatz to Leimen, Kurpfalzzentrum, and then the bus 751 to St.Ilgen, Europaplatz, then it's one min walking distance from there.

Or take the S-Bahn to St. Ilgen/Sandhausen (S3/4 in direction of Karlsruhe from Hauptbahnhof) and walk 10-15 mins.

There is a great English speaking Dr in St Leon Rot...near to Heidelberg. She is actually an Irish
Dr married to a German Dr...her name is Anne Golling, she deals mainly with the American community here and has a good reputation. It seems that in Germany you see a different Dr for each ailment...she is a FRAUEN DOKTOR...so probably not wise for the guys to go to her :-)

Cristina Ogniben in Handschuhsheim speaks good English and has an online appointments booking system which is really handy

I don't know if anyone needs a chiropractor but I found a great one out in Kaiserslautern. His father and his wife are American and he speaks perfect English. He's also listed with the American Chiropractic Association. He and his mom have a business together (since her husband is American I'm sure her English is just as good). His name is Eric White and her name is Ingrid White. The number is (496)329-2356.

I went to this guy in December. The receptionist mistakenly put that I was a private patient on my form, which he saw in the examination room, and he proceeded to tell me about all the work I should have done on my teeth (my old dentists have been keeping an eye on this tooth for years). After hearing all this I said, um I am not privately insured, which he said "but, it says so here" and I said, that is an error. Then he just smiled and said "well, then you can forget everything I've told you". i asked for a quotation of his treatment plan and have sent it into my insurance to see what they will cover. I then went to another dentist and knowing I was not privately insured, said "yup, we will keep an eye on that tooth", but made no mention of the other teeth (mostly replacing ugly, old fillings). It's sad really to know which dentist had my best interest at heart.

Dr. Dorszewski (GP) only takes private patients. Apparently her son isn't as picky. His number is 0621-4182222. No idea how good his English is.

I'm still looking for a good GP. I visited Dr. Wachter in MA. Convenient location, they he couldn't gather that I sprained my wrist from snowboarding, so I'd like someone younger. Grey hair is okay, but he was closer to retirement. Oh, I miss Dr. Rieger in Munich *sniff sniff*

We (my wife and daughter) had a teeth cleaning here - it was 800 Euros - I'm not kidding. BCBS paid about $200 USD toward it. We can't recommend this unless you have some kind of incredible dental insurance. On the German economy, a teeth cleaning shoould run about 80 Euros per person.

A friend strongly recommended Dr Slesina in Mannheim - she can speak excellent English.

As far as I am aware, she's an Orthopaedic Specialist but also does the "Allgemeine" stuff.

I went to Dr. Slesina this morning and she does speak excellent English. although I had an appointment, I still had to wait 45 minutes. good thing i brought work with me. she is a general practitioner, not an orthopedic specialist (that is another Dr. Slesina I found in the phone book). she was friendly, patient, did a simple check-up, took her time.

although when i told her i hurt my wrists from snowboarding, she asked if i used any kind of poles. *sigh* but unlike the other GP I went to, she examined my wrists very carefully and did not recommend an orthopedic specialist just yet, gave me a course of action for a week and another appt righ away for a check-up, so she is thorough. location is good being just around the corner from Rosengarten & National Theater & Wasserturm.

Does anyone have experience with a doctor that prescribes x112 (weight loss prescription). I am looking for a doctor in Mannheim or close by that speaks English and will prescribe for weight loss. Any info would be great! I tried looking into the docs recommended on here and some were Gyno, some were Ortho, etc.. so if anyone has any personal experience with this type of dr/prescription please reply.

I attend Martin Horns surgery in St Ilgen as well, and I have nothing but praise for him. I can't say that he will specifically prescribe the weight loss medicine, but he was fine with continuing to prescribe the medicines that I was taking in the UK.

He speaks good english, however his staff do not.

a great doctor in the Heidelberg area (altstadt not so far from Uniplatz) who speaks english is Dr. Dieter Jung (http://www.djung.de) he and his wife run the praxis with a few other docs, but if you speak no german make sure you get him and not the wife as she does not speak english. However they both speak several languages including russian. They also have an onsite labor. They also have onsite accupuncture and do offer some holistic alternatives but they do not push it on you. He was the only doc in HD that gave me vicodin/dicodid for kidneystone without making me feel like a junkie. And he is a Mac user we bonded over that when i was there.

They also have an internet station for you to use as you are waiting..(not sure if they still do as this was in 2003 but i cannot imagine they took it out)

I went to Dr. Monica Bachmayer over the summer when I had terrible allergies and a lung infection and she was really good. Best of all, she spoke English!! She's located on Bergheimerstrasse and pretty close to the tram stop which worked well for me. I've also been to Dr A. Arends on Bruckenstrasse and he is a good GP and speaks English too.
