Meetup Friday 4.Aug.2006 in FF proper

I've heard it's Frankfurt's Hofbräuhaus, that is, only tourists go there and nobody else, but then some other Frankfurt residents have told me that's not so and I should really make it there before I go. So how about it? Any long-term residents who've never been there? I'd like to go at maybe 7pm, I should get off work by then (on a month's contract in town).

I want to go the Gemaltes Haus too but they're closed for renovations until the 13th.

great fun last night -- and yes, Appelwein has about the same amount of alcohol as beer does, but is much sourer. Still when you're ordering 1.5 liters at a time (to share with three other people) it goes quicker than you think... I may go slower at the Beerfest this afternoon.
