need to write a few formal letters in German (argh) - change of address, Kuendigungen etc - and did a google search for letter templates ... can't really find anything whithout getting out the credit card. i also checked out the microsoft download centre, but I didn't really find what I was looking for.
So, does anyone have any links to good resources for letter writing in German, including letter templates?

I'm sure some of us TTers would be willing to help you. Post whatever it is to the translations section and I'll have a go. Obviously leave out private details from the letter wink.gif

A section on these letter templates could be nice in the wiki.

A lot of the info is already there -- there's definitely been a thread about giving notice on a property.

Edit: Here you go.

thanks for the offer of help ... I have several letters to write, so will see how I go in finding some sort of directory of letter templates for various occasions ... hopefully a copy 'n paste job without much effort on anyone's part.

cheers, but I see just the one text and that's for Mietvertragskuendigung, and even my German tells me it ain't up to much.

Try Apartment rental termination letter then. It took me less time to find that than it took you to write your last reply.

Thank-you, great template ... I guess it's a question of knowing or remembering where to look :-)

There's some useful stuff (including a German letter writing section) from Exeter University (otherwise known as Sexeter, due to the high undergraduate pregnancy rate):

I need some help formulating a letter. I'm moving out and in agreement with the next person moving in, I will be leaving some items in the apartment. I want to draft up a letter so I can give it to the landlady when I hand over the apartment.

I got started with:

Die folgenden Gegenstände wurden von einem Entgelt von xx Euro an der zukünftigen Vermieterin <___> verkauft: (I list the items by room).

Do y'all think this is sufficent? Do I need to mark it as addendum to "Übernahmeprotokol"? Thanks!
