I have done some shopping at Walmart but would prefer to shop at Aldi. Can I return the Walmart bottles to Aldi?

IF they are bottles within the recycling system with the grey logo then yes.

Does it not depend if Aldi sells the same bottles?
I've had problems returning drink bottles to certain stores because they don't stock that drink and the machines wouldn't accept the barcode.

Yeah, but sometimes bottles-- especially ones from Penny Markt it seems-- can only be returned to the same place. But I think it should say on the bottle if it needs to go back to a certain supermarket chain or whatnot. I also have a question- I bought some cans of Dr. Pepper at the
S-bahn station in Holzkirchen. Do you suppose I can take those back anywhere and get the refund as well?

I think you can take cans back anywhere now.
BTW, there have been a couple of previous topics about
can deposits and
bottle deposits.

Interesting question related to this:
I found that the refund value is different from place to place. I used to get 0.25 Euro from Penny. but now I have Tengelmann with something like 0.1 Euro.
So for the general bottles that is accepted everywhere...is it ok to go for the best offer

? and what is it ?

Back in May or so the 2nd stage of the new recycling program was started. As long as the bottle has the correct recycling logo on it it can be taken back to any store. The Local Penny even has a sign saying they will take back stuff from there store and about 10 others.
Also if the place has a machine instead of giving it to a person, your chances of getting $ back are a bit higher.

Some bottles have the refund value written on them (Evian water for example) so I don't see how they'd get away with that.
I'm wondering if I'll be able to put bottles from the UK and France in the return machines here. I'm off to Hit on my way home from work to see if it works. I expect not, but it's worth a try I suppose...

Well operation big success. I just chucked the walmart bottles into the aldi bottle munching machine and it worked fine. On another note also dropped by tenglemann and picled up a couple of those 29c beers. Are they any good. Or did i just waste 10% of beer money at a pub?

In my experience Steve they are ok as a nightcap once you have already had a real beer or two in the pub or beer garden or whatever but would not fit the bill if you just wanted to stay at home and chill on the balcony.

In BLIND tastings the chav beers from PLUS passed the palates of even those who drink Mr Augustiner's fine beverages!

I first got into those plastic bottled beers for picnics as they are so much lighter.
Whereas though one might leave glass bottles behind and let people colelct them for the 8 cents on them, with 25 cent plastic bottles you have the incentive to carry them back home.

And the answer is, unsurprisingly, no you can't.
