If economics are anything to go by Germany certainly won in Europe as far as I'm concerned.

Giving credit or trying to give credit to only one country is about as stupid as one can get. Hell, it took more than one atomic bomb to get Japan to quit.

Somewhere around 50 million people died, a madman tried to exterminate an entire race of people, countless historical buildings were destroyed, nuclear weapons were used offensively for the only time in human history, virtually incalculable human suffering in aid of nothing at all. I went for Italy, In much the same argument that goes for Germany.

They 'lost' the war, but financially came along strong after the war. Whatsmore, they were not bombed to the extent Germany was.

AND Italy were part of the central axis powers yet thesedays they have dont have to put up with war references whenever in England or in USA like many Germans do.

Japan, Germany and Italy were all the 'evil' powers, all lost, yet somehow Italy didnt get the reputation that Japan and Germany did.

That's besides the point as everyone got aid via the Marshall Plan, this is about who ultimately won, or at least didn't lose. Look at Germany's economic performance since 1945 and compare it with the rest of Europe's, it's not even close (on a European scale).

A German bluecollar worker is still better off today than most of his European counterparts, and that's just the lowest common denominator economically. Germany still runs the show whether we like it or not.
