A friend of mine just gave me a Hauppauge TV tuner card that supports DVB-T (that's Digital Video Broadcast - Terristrial). Thought I'd wait unti the next cold, rainy day to try it out. Anyone using DVB-T? Know where I can get a Zimmerantenne?

http://www.dvb-t-bayern.de/muenchen_suedbayern.html has some good info on DVB-T in Munich and elsewhere.

Humm. Just about any store that deals with TV, Satt. or Electronics has DVB Antt. (Saturn,Mediamarkt,Conrad, etc.) take your pick.

my boss bought one to run on his notebook for the world cup, one of those USB stick tuners. Only trouble was, the thing couldn't tune into ARD, so it was useless to watch the match. Possibly the antenna that was delivered with it was crap, possibly the USB stick was faulty, not sure.

I've got one that I use on my MAC and it doesn't pick up ARD either, and I bought an amplified aerial for it as well.

ARD (as well as arte, Phoenix and Einsplus) transmit in the VHF band (Channels 6 or 10). All others transmit in the UHF band (higher frequencies). Some DVB-T tuners, especially those from abroad (UK being a good example) cannot receive VHF channels so these channels are not available. For the PC-sticks this may simply be a programming or setup issue, assuming the hardware itself is VHF capable (check the specifications). Cheaper antennae are optimised for UHF reception (where most channels are ) and are very weak for VHF reception, so a better (e.g. active) antenna is recommended, or an antenna optimised for VHF reception when those channels are required

Guess I was lucky then. My USB DVB-T receiver gets ARD and everything else. It's made by Yakumo and works fine. Was also a major cause of my drop in productivity during the world cup as it meant I could watch the matches at work on my PC.

Of course, location helps too. Around north Munich/Schwabing a piece of string will get a good signal on any freqency as the channels are coming off the Olympic tower...

Anyone know with the DVB-T if you can get EuroSport in English (as in the Dual Language capability ?)
Grinner
No Sorry its not available

The only way it is possible is by having Sky TV or an Analogue satellite system receiving from Astra1.
