Can anyone recommend an excellent first class hotel or possibly vacation appt in or near south Munich/ Starnberg. We have to spend a couple of weeks here house hunting and have 2 boys aged 3 and 4 who need a hotel with grounds to run around in/ a good park very nearby otherwise we all go mental.

Thank-you, looks good. biggrin.gif

The grounds aren't that big at Seitner Hof, but it is a nice hotel and the surrounding area isn't very busy. There's a playground not far away. Another nice hotel: Residence Starnberg

Hi,
I can recommend the Hotel Olympia in Fürstenried West. Just 2min. away from the U3 and Bus Station http://www.hotel-olympia-muc.de/

wink.gif Thanks for these they look good. We are moving to Munich but not through work, my husband is self employed, we just felt like a change from London! Any suggestions as to location, hoping kids will go to MIS?

Any of the areas within 10Km of both the MIS and the BIS are very nice places to live..

Many of the outer laying villages have busses that pickup the kids each day but obviously this makes the kids day that bit longer...

The further away from the cty you live (within reason) the more pleasing the rent is on your bank account.

Enjoy your house hunting

Just wanted to add a recommendation for a hotel in south Munich, based on some very happy visitors. They stayed in the NH hotel in Unterhaching, on the S5 line.

Its a bit far out if you live in the city centre, but for those of us living on the outskirts of the city it is very useful. The train takes around 25 minutes to get to the city centre.

It is a very modern 4 star(?) hotel only a few minutes walk from Unterhaching train station. They happened to have very good rates when we were looking, around 55 euro excluding breakfast for a double room. The rooms were outstanding for that price, they were actually suites including a separate bedroom, bathroom and spacious living/kitchen room. I think most if not all of the rooms in the hotel are suites. From the outside the building might look a bit unattractive or not very cosy, but it is lovely from the inside.

There's a few nice restaurants and bars within walking distance, one of the other reasons we chose it was the location.
