my ex always goes on Sunday night there! There is usually a team from the Hamburg Hash house Harriers there.
Hammonia
Unfortunately the Hashers are a bit lazy these days... cool.gif
sarabyrd
@ Hammonia - Do they still sell pub shirts? (nothing at all to do with the pub quiz, I know)

Yes, kick his arse, would be nice to see the lot of them more often.

Dunno, Dave, we were in Manchester for the weekend, but came 2nd the weekend before.
Indeed it's a bit difficult sometimes to find more than two people for the team, the Sergeant is travelling a lot (and so are we lately) and as you know quite a few have left Hamburg.
Was hoping to see you there again, sad to hear that it's not going to happen sad.gif
At least Mr. Exaaaactly from Belfast is back cool.gif

Take care!

As far as I know they do - at the moment they still have world cup shirts for sale behind the bar, but am sure they still sell the Finnegan's polo-necks.
Just call and ask.

Hammonia

Carm
he can only do english when drinking?
Hammonia
Well, as long as he is not addicted to beer from a luminescent beer-glass... laugh.gif
Carm
has he left it there too? laugh.gif

just sent him an email, so you should hear from them soon!
Hammonia
Don't know, just haven't seen those glasses for a loooong time.

Thanks for mailing them, we'll see if they are there next Sunday.
Carm

The quizzes are very much still on. Hammonia ran the quiz last night. Was good to see her back on stage again. New teams are always welcome. More the merrier. I don't know when the quiz league starts again. Maybe Hammonia has more info?

Erm, no, I haven't.
Haven't discussed it yet, but suppose it will be sometime end of October this year. And then through to January with a little break in December.
Will keep you posted.
tor
anyone going to the quiz tomorrow?
let's get a team together!

tor
Hammonia
Finnegan's annual Pub Quiz League will start at Nov 5th, 2006 and be finished end of January, with a short break on 24th and 31st December.

Hope to see you all there biggrin.gif

Do I need to be part of team, or as a random female Brit with quite a large brain and encyclopedic knowledge of Take That rolleyes.gif can I just turn up and join in with a friendly team?

I can't make it 5 Nov, but could make it week after.

Thanks
Hammonia
You can just turn up and you will surely find a friendly team, just ask me (if I'm there, but I'm not doing the quiz every week) or ask Bernd, the guy with the glasses who hands out the answering sheets, he knows which team has vacancies.
BTW: quiz is on every Sunday, it's only that the league starts on Nov 5th.
I'm sure encyclopedic knowledge of Take That is highly appreciated biggrin.gif
tor
is the quiz happening this sunday, the 15th?
if so, anyone else going to be there?

t.
Hamburg_parttimer
I've never been before, but I'll go! Gives me a couple of days to blow the dust off my Take That CDs.
tor
ok, it's last minute but... anyone else going?

t.

Hiya tor,

so did you go to the quiz night? I'd like to have gone, but working way too early the next morning.

cheers,
ian
tor
yes, i went. teamed up with 2 german guys... at least we didn't finish last.
tor
even more last minute... anyone?
silty1
ach tor, next time not so last-minute! I would have gone had you reminded me. How about next Sunday?

BTW, do you find the questions are general, or is there a British bias to them, ie if you know squat about Premier League or BBC sitcoms outside of Fawlty Towers and /or Monty Python, you're sunk?
tor
I was alone last night and with a little help from one Waiters I WON!.
I would have a respectable score alone...

well the questions are usually quite general, a mixed bag, but good.
some currents events, some sports, and history.
there's a picture round and a music round.
there were a couple british questions that i had NO idea about
and some tricky american trivia
Kay
Well done! smile.gif
(we'll ignore the 'help' bit)
tor
well, i always give credit where credit is due...
i didn't solicit his help, he just offered,
i just benefitted the most from a little answer swapping...
the atmosphere is quite relaxed, it would be easy enough to cheat if you
really wanted to win...

and i the €30 bar gutschein quenched many a thirst after the quiz.
tor
ok, let's try this again...

tonight... anyone...?
Expat Mat
Hey Tor, you going tomorrow? We're going to make the effort and go along.
bluedave
We need to have a reunion 'Pinheads'
night at Finnies wink.gif
Carm
do the hashers still put in a team?
tor
thinking about it.
we were tied for the lead going into the music round...

finished 4th i think.

could use a bi' o help with the brit pop...

t
bluedave
Best girls for the pop are either Julia or Marta.
tor
anyone else coming...maybe...?

Nice one, our kid

Just got back. Had a good night. Came 2nd in the quiz. Will be there for the quiz next Sunday at the earlier time of 18:00 or 6pm.

I'd like to drop by this coming Sunday the 27th as well. See you there! - ian
Cookie Addict
Do you need to have a team of 5 to play or can you just show up and join with others? My wife and I would like to go this Sunday.
Hammonia
You can even play alone if you like smile.gif - more drinks for you if you win.

The rule is: MAX. 5 people - no rules for a minimum quantity.

We will be there on Sunday, but remember: this time it's at 6:00 p.m. as there's Karaoke afterwards (good fun last time!!)

Hey Tor! You still up for trying it again? Would really love to beat the Guinea Pigs this time... And of course hope to hear an educated voice at the Karaoke later - one or two new people that don't make your ears bleed would do good rolleyes.gif
tor
I am planning to come... trying to cram some brit pop into my head! This time I swear the Take That will be an answer.

I also will bet money on 'parthenogenesis'.

So, what does the attendance from TT look like?

t.
silty1
oh no, think I've asked this before - is it very british? then I'll have to say, "i'm only here for the beer"
sarabyrd
One of these days I will make it, I swear!
