S-Bahn from Munich Airport - lines S1 and S8

I have to get to the Laimer Platz U-bahn station after arriving at Munich airport on Sunday. My thought was to get the S8 and change to the U5 at Karlsplatz or Hauptbahnhof, but I was advised to use the S1 from the airport instead. Any thoughts ? Thanks

Just take which ever one is leaving the airport first - they both go to Hauptbahnhof and both take the exact same time (give or take a minute) so egal!!!

Take the S1 to Laim and then catch the 51 bus to Laimer Platz. Check the 51 schedule first to make sure it's running, because I just picked that off the map. Of course, if you're not in a hurry, then just do what eurobabs said.

Thanks for that. I take it the fare is the same for both routes and I'm assuming that the ticket I buy for the train would cover the bus trip as well? I'm more likely to take an all-train approach though, as I'll be carrying heavy cases, and that might be more difficult on the bus. Also don't want to completely knacker myself as I have to be up early for the first day of my language course the next day !

Your ticket (now 8.80 I think, but could be wrong) will work on all U/S bahns, buses, and trams in all zones - just make sure you stamp it (validate it) before heading down into the train station at the airport.

Thanks for that eurobabs. I knew about the train ticket side of things, but never had any need to catch a bus in Munich - yet !
