Air-conditioned public places where one can work

Taking the laptop to escape the hot weather

In the summer I take groups of American schoolkids around the Germanic countries and am well used to them whining about the lack of air conditioning (or "air" as they call it) in hotels and other public places.

Now it is my turn. I have a lot of work to do, but cannot concentrate in this heat.

What I am looking for is a place where I can plug in my laptop and work for the day. Internet access would be a bonus but not essential. Weekend opening would also be welcome. My battery only lasts for a couple of hours, so I need to be able to use their power supply. Can anyone suggest somewhere? A library maybe? Somewhere at the airport? A university building?

Allow me to pre-empt any discussion about the advantages/disadvantages of air-conditioning/fans/windows etc by providing the link to the relevant thread. It's suggestions of specific locations that I'm asking for. Thank you!

Does Cafe Puck have aircon? It would be nice to work in there

WLAN hotspots in Munich

The Seehaus beer garden has WLAN and power sockets. Costs about €3 per hour for the internet. Electricity is free.

It DOESN'T have to have internet access! A power socket is much more important!

Oh, and it should be somewhere reasonably quiet as well rolleyes.gif

That's just it though, they're all literally "hotspots" at the moment...

The best idea I can muster with this partially fried brain of mine is, the airport? (given your Freising location as well)

We had my sister in law visiting and usually she's the one who loves the heat, always complains about having endure cold Canadian winters, well in visiting us in Madrid even she found it too hot and the sun too strong, mainly because you don't have air when you tired of the heat.

On the opposite end last year when we visited in spite of soaring temperatures well into the 90's or 30's Celsius my preparation for a trip to the mall included wearing jeans shoes and a jacket, as I'm not used to air conditioner I absolutely froze, never never wear sandals and shorts to a mall in America, they believe in freezing you out!

STB,
why not try one of the larger hotels in Munich?
Perhaps the Bayerischerhof or Four Seasons.

They all have lounges and I am sure you could negotiate a corner with power.
