Oper für Alle
That time of the year again when the Bavarian St. Staatsorchester and Oper spread the love around town and make the music accessible for anyone who wants to show up. Opera for Everyone consists of public concerts where it is first come first serve for seating and you can dress as you like. As of 1999 this annual one day event has extended to two days with two concerts. The first concert is an open air orchestra concert and the second is a live broadcast from the National Theater onto a large screen.

The two concerts are on Saturday, July 10th at 9:00pm and Sunday, July 11th at 5:00pm.

Opera for All 2004

Opera for All has meanwhile become synonymous with the Munich Opera Festival. Since 1997, the Bavarian State Opera has transmitted an important festival performance live from the Nationaltheater onto a mammoth video screen on Max-Joseph-Platz. As of 1999, the program was extended to two days.

Thanks to our sponsor, the BMW Group and the BMW Munich Subsidiary, the Opera for All events can be offered at no admission charge. Opera for All is a return gift to the people of Munich for the loyal support they give the Bavarian State Opera all year long.

It looks like rain tomorrow and Sunday. sad.gif
But if the weather holds out enjoy the show!
It's free. And you can bring beer.

I happened upon the opera around 10:30 last night. It was a great setup & the sound was actually pretty good, but it was too cold to stand out there for long! Had I known it was almost over though I could have toughed it out.
