Everything you wanted to know about
Softball from Wikipedia.
Note on 'pick up' softball, i.e. non formal, non competitive, non team games, the play is usually casual. Fun in the sun is the primary goal.
Also if a little kid comes up to bat the rat bastards in the outfield should take their time throwing the ball back, let him/her at least get to first base.

Take no prisoners, jml. There's no such thing as a free ride in softball. Every base must be earned.
PS- Count me in this Sunday.

Hi...
...assuming I don't crash/burn too much Saturday night

I would like to drag my mule along...
I have my old baseball glove and ball with me, but nobody to throw it back to me...

I guess if a softball won't fit into it, I'll borrow one of your gloves!

Look forward to seeing you folks...Cheers...Steve.

it was good.

we learned that small scottish girls are natural batters and trees make excellent outfielders. as for battle wounds, you'll have to ask mr. brain...

Sorry you didn't see us Smartini, there was talk of meeting again in 2 weeks, so if you'd like to come along next time, I could arrange to meet you somewhere near the
English Garden.
Excellent softball played today. Wizadora has one mean left drive. Inflatablewoman is a natural talent. Planetmoni made some excellent catches. Everyone else was getting some great hits in there.
Poor Mr. Brain has joined the list of walking wounded.
Here's the infamous tree shot. Can you spot the guy in the tree tryingto get the softball?

And here's poor mrbrain. Inflatablewoman got a fantastic, power-driven hit... only it happened to be a line drive right at mrbrain and gave him a good, solid tap on the inside of his right knee.

Ok all. I've already informed Toast, but I purchased some proper bases when I was in the States. Unfortunately, right now they are sitting in Philly in my suitcase that somehow didn't make it on the plane today... Anyway, I should have them by tomorrow so we can now use real bases instead of neon cups. I couldn't find any softer balls, though. Looks like we'll have to deal with injuries...

What time is the game on Sunday (assuming it's still a go...)?

bern
Aug 17 2006, 3:04 pm
Aww...don't be such a wuss. I got beaned in the ass and DrivenWest almost took my head off with a line drive and I'm still gonna play (assuming it's early enough). Oh!!! And Honeebeaz almost caused me to lose a toe!!! Battle wounds are what it's all about!

who has all the equipment, gloves, ball, bat, bases???
time - how long does a game last usually? we can make a countdown from there...
bern
Aug 18 2006, 9:11 am
I think Toast has most everything. I have the bases. I can only do earlier in the day. Games last as long as you want them too. Depends on if you're actually keeping score and such. Couple hours for us amateurs is a pretty safe bet.
