I really don't know what you people are complaining about.
It gets hot, it gets cold, sometimes it rains, sometimes the sun shines. Welcome to life on earth.
When it's hot, you sweat; when it's cold, you shiver. Welcome to being a human.
thought you people would have figured these things out by now... then again, in the same vein, guess i should have learned that people will complain no matter what the conditions.

the heat isn't getting to me, I have air at the office,
I love that fact that the sun is out! Its so bright, sort of hard not to be in a good mood with this much sunshine.
even a day of rain or two cannot break the great summer we have had so far.
now, if I could just get the germans to start wearing deodorant!

I hate hot weather, I always have hated hot weather. I prefer the winter, be it rain or snow.
I have a pool in the garden but I still hate the hot weather and can hardly wait to cover it up and watch the snow settle. Roll on skiing season

No its not. It is great walking through a snow filled forest, spotting the deer and taking lots of photographs.
Afterwards you head home, make a hot-chocolate with rum and sit next to the Kachelofen.
Far better than sweltering in this heat, yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk!!

Its been over 110 F here in Californian Valley for the past few weeks.Yesterday it hit 112!!
Americans do tend to think Europeans are "pussies" as the country comes to stand still at anything over 90 deg!!
What they tend to forget though is the humidity. For instance here in Cali although its well over 45 C its only 20%. A dry heat is more tolerable.
When I llived in Darmstadt over 90 deg with 80-90% humidity it felt terrible especially with no A/C.
Freezing winters...humid Summers...rainy spring..no thanks.

Just to let you know, tomorrow is suppose to be hotter. They are also worried that trees all over are going to die and are encouraging people to water the trees around their house with substantial amounts of water and not a measely little bucket full.
The Elbe is now a meter low and all boat traffic has stopped. It is freaking miserably hot.

While I can appreciate your sentiments, being a native Californian myself and currently living there, California is hardly representative of what most Americans deal with. Head on over to New Jersey or New York and spend a hot summer over there. Some Americans put up with far worse than the Europeans have to deal with as far as heat and humidity go.

I haven't noticed the country coming to a stand still, oh and Europe isn't a country! Plenty of European countries are baking hot every year and they don't stop. But what do Americans know about the rest of the world?
cinzia
Jul 27 2006, 7:02 am
Part of the reason Americans have this belief that French people smell bad is because the tourists all come over in the height of the summer, when it's hot and there's no aircon. They only go to Paris, and they ride the Metro, where it's baking hot and everyone's sweating. They come to the conclusion that French people stink. Of course, they stink, too.
After this summer, with London and the Tube also sweltering, the rumor will be that the English don't smell much like their roses, either!

Well, after reading this thread I am congratulting myself on having been on holiday in northern Scotland for the past two and half weeks -- it did get up to 25 or so there a few times, and one day briefly hit 27 -- that's the local version of a heatwave--but most of the time it was a bit cooler... around like today here.
On a sadder note, the geraniums on my balcony have pretty much died. I have planters with water storage undeneath, but apparently the extreme heat was too much for my dried-out flowers... Any tips to revive them gratefully appreciated.

I think that the weather is beautiful!
I adore hot climates, and have so far not complained, even when my 2 favourite scented candles which were sitting in my windowsil melted. At least they made my room smell nice. I reset the shape and put them in the shade. I found it highly amusing

I remember my first trp to Turkey in 2000 when they had a heatwave there, I was wearing a jumper and felt fine. The same with India, I go there usually once a year and find that I acclimatise in a day or two at the most, and thus find it easily bareable, even just before the monsoon breaks out, when the humidity rises to nearly 95%.
Oh Wondeful Sunshine!!!
I think I was a gecko in a past life...
Cherogoth - We've been having crap weather in Munich lately and some say that summer has come to an end... Never thought I'd say this, but I so wish we had English weather here.

According to Yahoo Weather, London temperature is 13 - 20 degrees. Sounds like Munich, doesn't it?
