I'm a certified group fitness instructor, and taught for many years in Canada. I speak German, but unfortunately do not know any of the aerobics terminology in German.

Can anyone recommend a place that offers group fitness / aerobics classes in English in Munich? Thanks. smile.gif

I'm sad to not see any responses. I moved here to Munich a couple of months ago and am desperately missing my gym and group aerobics classes back home. If anyone knows a place that offeres aerobics English, please respond! Also, can anyone suggest a decent gym in the Schwabing area, specifically by the English Garden?

Most of the step-terminology is in English anyway, and body-part vocabulary isn't hard to pick up. I doubt that there's much demand for English aerobics classes, because if you have any experience at all, as you both obviously do, you can participate in a class without knowing any German. Just do what the other students do. That's what I did.

Maybe there just aren't any.

I don't mind making a fool of myself in a German speaking class...where can I find some good aerobics?
alala
you won't make a fool of yourself, they're very friendly and will speak more slowly if you give them the universal "huh?" look. However, I can't recommend a gym in Munich because I haven't lived there for over ten years. Carm probably knows a good one.

Oo - here's a thread on gym recommendations.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone. smile.gif

Now a different question: Does anyone know of a gym where they actually CUE in the aerobics classes? The couple of gyms that I've tried out have instructors that don't cue at all! Oh, and they start with static stretches! ohmy.gif Both of those things would have had me failing my practical of my group fitness certification exam back home.

So, any suggestions for gyms that offer classes where the instructors actually cue throughout the class? I've checked out the gym recommendation thread, and this topic doesn't come up, which is why I'm asking here. Thanks. smile.gif

Of course I can .. biggrin.gif
I teach regular classes in Martinsried (club sportive) on Thursdays and Saturdays, but as a freelancer I am basically all over Munich when colleagues need a cover. Just PM me if you are interested.

As there's no answer to the question I'd like to update the thread.
I would like to sign up for an aerobic course in English. Can anyone recommend something?

And another question- does anyone attend the aerobic classes in Laim? How is it?
