no ordinary world - Joe Cocker, music smooth as silk soothing my soul while creating the budget sheet and believe me, for this is need a LOT of soothing
Great kick-ass song from A3 (Alabama 3 in the UK) and great TV show.

From the days when you could play everything on a bass guitar with only 3 strings and 4 frets. Drummer suffering a little broken down motor syndrome with early signs of rigor mortis, but lyrics and harmonica are excellent.

Just doing a little time traveling and free association at the moment...
First was Metallica's Seek 'n Destroy [Kill 'em All]: Sunset Strip, new license, cruising, 'rockin the truck, seriously hot blonds, racing sunset blvd. and ditch cops.
Next was AC/DC's Shoot to Thrill [Back in Black]: Pee-chee folders, rubik's cube, hot french teacher, fast times, breasts.
Then Beatles' Something [Abbey Road]: cruise, ensenada, high school, int'l waters, long island iced teas, cigs, why?
Then Pavement Trigger Cut/ Wounded-Kite at :17 [Slanted & Enchanted]: grunge, hairy girl & rock girl, joshua tree, gigs.
Just hit shuffle on my iPod and one of my favourite songs came up: Karn Evil 9 (well, the distilled version of it) by Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

A very strange jazz version of wonderwall. Sounds an awful lot like Sinatra so I'm guessing it's someone doing covers in Sinatra style. Very strange.

Shit. I know that. Is that the same people who did that awesome crooner-style remake of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit? What ARE they called?

No clue. It's playing in the lobby of the hotel right now. They've switched to an actual Frankie song now. It's not half bad.

I've done a quick google and found that Paul Anka has done a version of Smells Like Teen Spirit. Maybe that's what I heard.

Bonito (Jarabe De Palo)
Such a fun song!

Looks all Greek to me.
Here's what I'm listening to right now: Van Morrison - "Glad Tidings" (from the album 'Moondance').
I'm listening to this: Ana Popovic. Go on, click it if you like electric blues, blues-rock, RnB and stuff. The first track that comes up after the intro is a bit untypical of her music and sounds more like jazz, but try some of the others.
I could tell you about the incredibly crisp faultlessly timed guitar work, the subtly powerfull bass playing, the booming reality of the drums or the laid back drawl of Ms. Smith.
I could tell you that this song places you instantly on the hot vinyl seat of a dusty Ford Mustang on some Mexican back road, with one eye permanently scanning the rearview mirror for the Federales, and a package on the back seat that will set you up for life or turn you into the boyfriend of the man with most cigarettes.
Mississauga Goddam is an exhilarating, uplifting fantastic album. Its that simple. Buying it is probably the easiest thing you can do to make yourself feel good

Just seen a movie that has this in the soundtrack - awesome. Sounds as fresh today as it did 60/70 years ago - as one of the comments on youtube suggests, it's hard to imagine any contemporary singer affecting future generations the way this bird still can.
The live version on youtube has some iffy intonation from the band, but just listen to the voice! The studio version is easy to find on the internet . . .
I was just nipping out the house the other day and I had MTV on the background and all of a sudden U2 came on singing 'Walk on' and the fact is I have never even heard this song before and I always have a view to music and be a lot of things in general that if something stops you in your tracks the first time then it must be very good. Of course some songs from an album grow on you and the hitty ones slowly die but this seems a hitty one!
I think it's a good few years old actually 2000 from the album- All That You Can`t Leave Behind- but god almighty have I been asleep for 7 years even though I went to see them in the Olympic stadium the other year! I actually think this is one of the best songs they have ever done and why I have not heard it more maybe I am just becoming a music snob and just beginning to appreciate good music- Does anybody want to buy any Coldplay albums?
