Update: The new Portishead is the heaviest album to come out of England in a long time. We Carry On is a killer track, as is Machinegun. This is really a work of utter brilliance.

I've been enjoying this tune a lot lately: Norway's Madcon cover version of the Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons 1967 song "Beggin'"...

Mariah Carey's brand new album.
I love Mariah Carey soooo much! I have loved her since I was around 11 years old and now I'm 29 and my love for her music has not waned one little bit. She is just brilliantly talented and I can't get enough of her!

The new Islands' album, "Arm's Way".
Pretty great shit, they even re-recorded a couple of old Unicorns songs.

goldfrapp - seventh tree,
really like it, hated the last two 'disco' albums, this one has a bit of danciness but it goes back to the haunted folktronica of the first album 'felt mountain', loike it a lot. recommended

Coming soon to Berlin and Hamburg, keep an eye out for Melody Gardot
And the single that's been on the airwaves for a while now which I enjoy listening to a lot: 'Scream'.

Samples from the new Def Leppard album.
It's actually really very very good.
The quality of sound of the samples I've got isn't fantastic and some are only 30 secs long but it rocks far more than the recent trash they have put out.

I'm amazed that a daft question like this attracts so many responses!
Sounds like classic Pinkerton-era Weezer. I'm really hoping they have a return to form with this next album, I don't think I could take another Make Believe
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Ago of the Understatement. An Arctic Monkey and A Rascal. Recommended

This is the kind of thread I always end up discovering new music from... it's the best thing about the "long tail" and music... before u had to read in a magazine or hunt around in a record store to find something cool -- which made the choices always subject to the "gatekeeping" of editors and music store buyers and etc... -- which would lead inevitably to mediocrity and the prevalence of "poser music" -- i.e. stuff that you want to like because you think it's cool, not because you really like it. Music journalism especially creates high-profiles for really lame stuff, because journalists are always looking behind their backs, trying to profile something that they think in 2 years people will think they were cool for liking "way back when"... I GREATLY prefer the democratic nature of threads like these, where people simply list their tastes and you can just look something up on itunes or youtube and check it out for yourself...
ANYWAY -- I'm listening to "Revolution On the Dance Floor" by Thomas Falke -- pretty sick song.
I don't usually go for techno but this is sort of like a weird crossover between rock and techno/trance. It's got the rock guitars but a computer-voice. It sounds like a dude singing but singing through a computer maybe.
I found a link to this song actually on a forum, and then I was in my brother's friend's car and he had it playing! It seems pretty underground but it's actually easy to download online -- here -- http://www.electricfilebox.com/tracks
Imperative Reaction.. As we fall I am also to dumb to add a Link.. so you will have to look it up..

My personal recommendation this weekend is to let your neighbours look after your kids, drink loads of lager and lay in the grass and listen to top notch music, for example - The Trials of Van Occupanther by Midlake
