It is that time of the year again! I am going to organise a meetup for the Offenbach beer festival (60 beer stalls and 2 stages for live music). Please select your preferred day and then I will organise the meetup for the one with the most votes.
Gen
Sounds good to me! I voted for Saturday, I always think of a beer festival as being an all-day event.

I'll be out of town that weekend mad.gif

Well it will be my first week of permanent residency. I'm up for it
Gen
So the 5th looks to me like a clear winner. Is there a meeting point yet? I'm trying to get people to come up from out of town too, and none of us will know our way around Offenbach, but here's a website with a teeny tiny map of where it'll be... oh and if you click on the tiny map you get a bigger one.

I would say meet up at 5:00pm. I haven't got a website so cannot host the document.

For those of you that were there last year we'll meet around the same place - from Willy Brandt Platz walk around the Rathaus with the church on your left until you come to the stage. There is a bar in front of the stage. We may have to move a bit later as I seem to recall it was quite loud! And to sample some different beers It is next to the Stadthof - between Aliceplatz and the rathaus.

Let me know if you plan to come later so we can arrange where we'll be!

I forgot to mention that the tunnel will be closed between Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and konstablerwache so you need to take a U-bahn between. For full details see RMV This also has quite detailed maps around the stops.
deatr28
Take S-bahn to Markt platz
S1, S2, S8 or S9 go to Markt platz - only from Konstablerwache

Trains back – 25,37,55 mins past until 1:00am.

The beer festival runs around the Rathaus down to Aliceplatz and along Hugenotten platz.
Last year there were 2 stages – one behind the Rathaus and one in Hugenotten platz

The intention is to move to Hugenotten Platz later in the evening to sample more beers!
And it is outside so you may want to bring an umbrella biggrin.gif

Hi all,

Is the invite open to us newbies too? And if so, how are we going to recognise the others (images of trenchcoats, flowers in button holes and funny code phrases come to mind, but then I watch too many spy films)?
deatr28
Easiest way is I'll take a financial times! You can pick them up free at the airport! So look for a Maß and a Financial Times (the orange one) on the table!

There are a few coming so it should be good - so long as the weather holds!

Cheers
Andy

I'm going too and I look like the picture in my profile. smile.gif And I'll have a green umbrella, as I think it's going to rain buckets.
deatr28
Well it rained last year but we couldn't find a table under an umbrella so we left at about 9:00pm - I was there from 1:00 though! Priority this year is for a covered table though!!

Hi,

I'll be joining you guys late in the day as i'm out of town most of saturday, should be with you just after nine if you're still around that is wink.gif
Gen
I'm having deja vu here. Still showing up with the green umbrella and a jacket.

Maybe you need more clothes, Gen ?

But if minimalism is your thing that's good too.
Gen
I thought the rest of my clothes weren't worth mentioning, but I will be fully dressed - in addition to the umbrella. In an internet cafe here now as I don't know yet where I can take my laptop to find free WLAN in Bornheim... tips welcome. I came in to copy down the map as I'd forgotten to yesterday!
der inselaffe
Just on my way now. If anybody is on here late before going, watch out for a bloke in chinos with a grey jumper, beard, glasses and vacant expression.
Gen
I was there but didn't find anyone. I only got there at 5:45 and saw a group with one fellow wearing a Mike's Bike Tours Paris (now called Fat Tire) T-Shirt, but they said they weren't you guys -- I'll take that as a lesson: never set out for an event without exchanging handy numbers via PM in advance! Doh! Off-topic but: I want to go visit that Deutsches Ledermuseum and Schuhmuseum sometime though. They're open Saturday nights until 10pm, and at just an S-Bahn ride away... and they have Goethe's Hatbox...

I came, I saw, but I didn't find anybody. sad.gif

Got there a bit late and spent about an hour walking round looking for a green umberella and a copy of the FT. Oh well, there's always next year.
