I'm a bit confused on exactly what it is that a Patent Administrator does. How is it different than legal secretary or paralegal? Does anyone know what pay should be for a job like this? Is it a job that would allow you to move into better jobs or are you basically stuck in an administrative position? Anyone done this type of work?

I am a Patent Attorney and work with a lot of Patent Administrators of various clients. The PA generally keeps track of the company's patent portfolio. The PA is also the main contact point for outside counsel and keeps track of who is doing what work and when it is due, etc., and hosts us during on-site visits (i.e., arranges meetings with Engineers, Management, etc.).
