Short break holiday suggestions with warm weather

Destinations suitable for 3-5 days in September

AskerOfQuestions
Where would you go if you:

Wanted a 3-5 day holiday in September
You were two couples and a five month old baby
Wanted to see the sun and have warmer weather than Munich... 27 degrees'ish
Want somewhere witha little character, things to see, a town to walk through etc.

Many thanks to any amateur travel agents out there with ideas.

Sardinia.

Get plane to Olbia airport (lufthansa direct from Munich, cheap).
Rent car.
Leave Olbia as quickly as possible, and drive over to the west coast to Alghero (max 2 hours drive).

Nice little town, tourists will have left it by then, good base from which to exlore a bit if you fancy, september will still be great for diving (not for the baby), loads of rentable accommodation, linguistically interesting (locals speak Catalan, Sarda, and Italian), good food.

The beer there is pretty rough in fairness, but some supermarkets stock weissbier.
Didsbury's Daftest
finca Sa Maniga - Majorca, Spain.

Drive South. Italy in September should be nice for 3-5 days. For a short trip (with a baby) I would avoid flying at all costs I think!

Flying ANYWHERE takes like 8 hours minimum door to door due to getting to airports, preflight check in times etc etc.

I'd totally recommend Cyprus

Had a lovely time there last Oct (took the whole family for my fathers 70th Birthday) , it seemed to be quite family friendly (lots of parents with small children at the hotel), but with plenty of scope for non-family activities I spent my week motorcycling round the island once I'd sorted out a visit to the military base for the old man (he did his national service there when he was 18)

Lots of good beaches, water parks etc. ,sports, cheap excellent local cuisine, very friendly locals, brilliant weather, some good historic sights , the stunningly beautiful Troodos mountains etc.

Can't wait to go back...

It is true, you cannot check them in, and do have to take them on board as hand luggage, but half a bottle of bells and 3 prozac normally sorts out any of the stress of the baby screaming. Might have to grind up the prozac to get them into the kids mouth though.
