Expat Mat
The Hamburg Players is an English-language amateur theatre group, presenting three plays a year at the Theater an der Marschnerstrasse in Hamburg, Germany.

Founded in 1965, the Hamburg Players have provided native English speakers, Germans, and anyone with a love for the English language and the theatre with an opportunity to meet, to produce and to perform English-language plays from many different English-speaking countries.

I recently went to see an adaptation of Terry Pratchet's "Wyrd Sisters" there and it was great. There certainly didn't seem to be anything amateur about the performances. I'll definitely be checking out their next production.

They're doing Noises Off from 8th to 18th November.
Expat Mat
The Hamburg Players open their 41st season with “NOISES OFF a Tony
Award winning play by Michael Frayn and co-directed by Jack Heyward–Tuck
& Carol McNamara

A HAPLESS THEATRE COMPANY is trying to put on a sex farce called
'Nothing’s On’, but the actors and actresses are more concerned with
their own personal problems than the play itself.
In the old tradition of the play within a play, Michael Frayn shows us
that what happens backstage is often funnier than what happens on stage.
Written in 1982, this witty play was adapted into a film by Peter
Bogdanovich in 1992, known under the German title “Der nackte Wahnsinn

Performances are from 8th to 11th and from 15th to 18th November 2006
with performances starting at 19.30 hours. There is a Matinee on
Saturday 11th November 2006 at 3.30 hours. and take place at Theater an
der Marschnerstraße, Marschnerstraße 46, 3 minutes on foot from U-Bahn
Hamburger Straße.

Hi there

Do the players need any help? Backstage, voice prompts, anything? I'm probably too late for this play but maybe for the next one?
HEM
Just look at their website - the front page says they are interested in people to work backstage..

Hi,

sorry to reply that late, I just stumbled on this thread. Yes, we Hamburg Players are always happy to welcome new members, especially if they are willing to help backstage. Send an email to tech(at)hamburgplayers.de and I will get into contact with you.

Our next play will be "Snake in the Grass" by Alan Ayckbourne running from November 7th to 17th 2007. I think we could make use of some additional stagehands. Or if you are skilled with tools and would like to build something, set building will be on Monday, November 5th. Always good fun.

Cheers

Henrik

From our publicity group:

Snake in the Grass *by Alan Ayckbourn*

directed by Mathilde Berry-Graham

The Hamburg Players present a spine-tingling suspense drama about murder
and ghosts from the past and present, penned by the inimitable Alan
Ayckbourn.

“A creepily, scarily, eerily enjoyable evening Sunday Times

“It‘s a suspense drama about murder, blackmail and haunting ... there
is ...depth and subtlety ... Financial Times

Miriam (Valerie Doyle) has cared for her father in the family home
during his last years with the help of the creepily polite nurse, Alice
(Carol McNamara). On Father‘s death, Miriam‘s older sister, attractive,
divorced Annabel (Lexi von Hofmann), returns home after over thirty
years abroad to find Daddy has left the bulk of his fortune to her. In
the unkempt grounds she is accosted by Alice, who claims that Miriam
sacked her to do away with her father and has a letter to prove it.
Gentle Miriam and resolute Annabel join forces against Alice, and
soon the blackmailer‘s body is hurtling down the well to oblivion. But
all does not end there ...
