Saturn celebrate 20 years in Munich with a sale

On the way to work I heard on the radio that Saturn is celebrating 20 years in Munich by having 20 different sales. They are offering 20% off on ceratin brands each day. Yesterday there was 20% off all items from Samsung and todays sale gives 20% off of items from Sony. The offer applies for just one day.

I'm not sure if it will continue to be a differnent brand name each day or switch to something else like 20% off all DVD's for the day but if I hear anything else on the radio in the mornings I'll post it. There are 5 Saturn stores located in Munich at : Riem, OEZ, Theresienhöhe, PEP Neuperlach and Neuhauser Straße.

Oooh, good time to buy a camera then (no I still haven't got one, I know it's been about 2 months now). I wonder if they will have a Casio day...

Just a small point but the Saturn at OEZ isn't actually in the OEZ anymore, it's over the other side of Hanauer

Wow, a post that mentions a sale at an electronics store makes the front page... and it seeks information as much as provides it.

Yeah, so I came across a full page ad for the sale in the paper. As stated the sale is 20% off Sony today only and is limited to one item per person. No mention of any sale tomorrow or the following days. No rain checks and no guarantee of anything being in stock.

Mabe I should scan and post the ad and hope to make the front page too.

Ok, admittedly it's a good sale, unless they're out of stock of a lot.

Where do I look for info in the first post? I posted what I heard on the radio. Some people were glad to hear it and the sale does continue on other days with other brands as mentioned in my post. Yesterday they had Samsung items on sale.

I just got back from Saturn where I picked up a 6GB USB stick for €99. Very cool. It took forever to pay for it though. The woman in front of me at the till was waitig and waiting while the cashier was on the phone with some manager discussing the pricing of some Sony <spit> crap that the woman wanted to buy at discount and which was most definitely not on sale. From what I heard (another guy in the queue muttering), the sale was only Saturday and yesterday. OEZ at 1400.

I should have added a big thank you for the post and I should say that I did not intend to criticise you, the poster. Actually, I'm quite thankful for the alert to the sale and hope they don't run out of everything before I get off work tonight. I guess my comments could be taken as critical of you, but you of course can't be faulted for what happens with your helpful post. And I prob would have missed the sale without it being on the front page (for a time?), so ...

I'm a long-time lurker (1 year or so), but had some downtime at work today so thought I'd dive in with a couple posts. The appearance of experience comes from frequent posts on other boards and a familiarity with the personalities here from having observed so long. As soon as I get a chance, I'll update my profile with more details.

Probably should have rethought being critical without developing some board-cred first.

And for those excited to watch a fight, not gonna happen over a Saturn sale posting!

I was in Saturn (Theresienhohe) this evening and it was all SONY products on sale, Playstations, PSPs, digital cameras, etc. And there is 20 days of sales so whatever BadDoggie heard wasn't correct.
I'll listen out for the ad again tomorrow and let you know what brand or items will be going cheap.

Today's sale is on Siemens. So 20% off of all Siemens items just for today. So if you need a new phone, kettle or coffee machine then get down to Saturn today.

So 20% off, but how much did they increase the price, on items for this sale?

That's illegal to do shortly before a sale, even in the US¹. Saturn's prices are higher than Media Markt's almost across the board. The selection is sometimes better and often different so if you're looking for something very specific it's worth checking both out.

As far as there being a sale or not, I can only tell you what I watched (and waited through) yesterday at the OEZ Saturn. Yesterday's brand didn't mean a thing to me since I won't buy Sony products. Thanks for the link; I'll see if there's anything I am interested in. However, it's still a good idea to compare the prices at Media Markt, Kaufhof and other stores since 20% off a price which is almost always higher than the competition might still be higher than the competition's.

¹ Tengelmann has a very questionable practice of raising the prices on items as much as 20% and then slapping a "[i]dauernd günstig[i] sticker on the shelf for each one.

Its the way of life... Figure with your "Ages of Wizdom" you'd have figured that out by now... Besides Saturns sister company Mediamarkt
got busted or is well known for doing just that.. (Increase prices by x % then claim x % off, while the total savings werern't what was advertised)

tja, i tried to find the info detailing the whole sale, but even a trip to the Saturn site wasn't helpful. I found their advertisement in the paper, so i guess everyday (if one is interested) they can go to Saturn Daily Ad to see what is on sale. yes, today is siemens products.

No, Saturn aren't listing the products or brands on sale until the actual day. But like I said I will listen out most mornings and try to post what that days sale is.

So far there are people waiting for a Casio day and a Canon day.
I wonder if they wil do an Apple day?

I think maybe last Monday but I can't be sure because I was in England the previous week and obviously wasn't listening to Radio Gong.

I went to Saturn yesterday, Really good discount, and i think they didn't raise the price. but I noticed they are not well advertising the 20% off, and the Sony products were not (popping up) to customers...u have to search urself.
I found a good laptop for 1k Euro (before 20%) moreover, you can have Finanzkauf and pay over 1y or 3y if you want (good for this price) but unfortunately there is no English system or even English KB... so i retreted back.
Does any one knows a shop that sells English-KB laptops ???

Regarding the brands going into sale...I think it has to be a brand that spans wide range of products (not like canon of only optical products)

Yea I missed todays offer aswell, it wasn't advertised on Gong between 7:45 and 8:45.

You not gonna get a laptop with an english keyboard from any big electronics store like Media Markt or Saturn.
Such an item is a special order, and they don't usually order just one, so getting them to order you 1 Laptop
with an english Keyboard will be next to impossible. Besides you can get better deals/spec'd laptops from the
stores that actually sell decent notebooks. Not the cheap consumer crude found in Media Markt, Saturn, Conrad
and the like..
