They must be DRIED!

A critical ingredient to my chili is dried pintos and for the life of me I can't find them at any of my local stores. Any ideas?

There is a little Asian grocery on Viktualienmarkt (near the fish bit) that I think may sell dried pinto beans. Has some other tex-mex-styley thangs.

The Müllers Mühle brand sells them as Pinto Beans with the German title Wachtelbohnen (because they are speckled like quail's eggs, Wachtel = quail).
You should be able to find that brand in very large supermarkets, Hertie/Karstadt or as unbranded Wachtelbohnen in a health food store (Reformhaus). Or try on the Viktualienmarkt?

@ Drivin' West,

I found dried beans at V-Mkt not too long ago. You have to have a membership card to shop. The boyfriend goes on a monthly spree, PM me if you'd like him to pick some up for you.

Canned beans in a pot a chilli is about as wrong as two straight men f _ _ _kin'!!!

There is a bean stall at the Viktualienmarkt as well. They had about 15 different ones to chose from the last time I was there. Brought a tear to my eye as I vowed to never take my remarkable store for granted again. "remarkable Randall's your remarkable store"

The hard-to-find-food fairy wink.gif had a packet of these in her hand yesterday in Kaufhof's food hall at Rotkreuzplatz in Neuhausen.
