Normally I use a Monthy card but this month I have holidays and don´t need it so I have a Streifen karte.
Which number do I stamp first 1 or 10?
and if I only need to travel 4 stops (with the bus in München) how many do i need to stamp?
planetmoni
4 stops in one direction is 1 streifen.
start is with 1 and make your way up to ten!
Elfenstar
right, but only the bus (and maybe tram)! s-bahn & u-bahn is 2 stops/1 strip (short trip or kurzstrecke) or 2 strips one zone.

It really shouldn't be that difficult to figure out that you start with 1.

Depends on the zones the stops are in. Two stripes within any single zone.

You only need to stamp stripe 2 for that first trip, 4 for the second, and so on. Anything below the highest stamp is cancelled and they count up from the last cancellation.

Or you can be a real bastard and stamp each of the eight stripes it takes to go to the airport and make the checkers look carefully.

woof.

I am travelling on the bus which goes along Frankfurter ring and Moosacher str.
So I guess this would be 1 stamp?

If I am not mistaken:
1 till 5 stops (but only 2 for U-Bahn and S-Bahn); otherwise, 2 streifen for each trip (it corresponds to a normal one-way ticket)

The definiton of "Kurzstrecke" is a maximum of 4 stops, up to 2 of which can be on the S-Bahn and/or U-Bahn.

This method is actually not valid; when I first came here I didn't know any better and stamped each strip individually. The ticket inspector warned me that each stamp counts as 1 journey, even if stamping from the same machine at the same time. So please don't do this otherwise you would get charged a fine for not stamping enough.

Also, if I remember correctly, if you're using the same Streifenkarte for 2 people you're supposed to stamp it twice. So if it's a journey that requires 2 stamps, you have to stamp 2 and then 2 again, rather than just stamping 4 all at once. Same for taking a bike: stamp for yourself and the bike separately (or buy a separate Fahrrad Tageskarte).

Bad Doggie, I started with 10 when I first got here because you had to turn the ticket in half to start at one, and guessed (wrongly) that it was a count down system. ph34r.gif Fined for my efforts too what is more. I am rather good at cryptic crossword puzzles though biggrin.gif
