Right...
´Following this statement I thought it would be good to see if anyone actually puts mustard on their Wurstsemmel or if not, what do you put on your sausage buttie?

No mustard, no ketchup, just as is.
Also: no butter on a bacon buttie but it is a must with chips

Sausage is not a Wurstsemmel. The only sausage for me is a red Currywurst with chili ketchup and curry powder.

why did you hightlight Löwensenf, BadDoggie?
btw, even ER admits Heinz is far better in taste than Develey own brand ketchup cos of the sugar content. McDonald's Ketchup (made by Develey) comes a close second to Heinz.

Actually I like both the McDonald's Tomato Ketchup and the Heinz Ketchup equally but I can personally vouch for the quality of the McDonald's Tomato Ketchup so the latter would be my preference. As you said, the taste difference is mostly to do with sugar content, German ketchups don't have as much sugar as the American brands and therefore don't fit our taste profiles.

But ketchup on a bratwurst?
We don't even do that in Wisconsin!

I thought I was the only weird one. I always eat bread without butter. Unless I'm having it with a boiled egg in which case I butter it.
And some drinks just "go" with some foods, have you noticed? Normally I drink cold drinks. Unless I'm going to eat toast, in which case I can't not have a cup of tea.

Defo mustard and if possible grilled onions and green peppers.

I actually really hate mustard...and I'm too embarassed to ask for ketchup in Germany, so I eat my wurst plain

(though eurovol's grilled onions and peppers sound tasty)
