02 and Eplus are offering WAP flatrates at 5 euros a month, within their portals.
Anyone using this, and can you access normal websites with this?

Train timetables, and quick update of sports results !
that it? so we u can't surf toytownmunich.com with your wap connection, even with some hacks?
You can if you have an internet browser installed on your mobile.
As well as a WAP browser, I have Opera Mobile pre-installed on my Nokia which adapts internet sites for a mobile screen. Works reasonably well but switched off the images- otherwise tend to reach my quota very quickly.
Although I tend to use the WAP Browser more: For checking my Yahoo email, train times, reading news & sport on BBC Mobile and on the odd occasion Googling or WAP check-in for
Lufthansa flights.

The offer mentioned in the original post is only "within their portals".
Presumably this means that if you go to any sites outside their portal you'll be charged the normal rates.

The O2 and EPlus deals are both limited and German. Ergo pretty crap. Much though I don't have much time for the company, only Vodafone have the (currently) best deals. "Fair" Flatrate (up to 5Gb) costs €42.50 a month, and they throw in a free PCMCIA datacard on a 24 month contract that supports HSDPA which runs to 1.8Mbit in areas where it is available. Vodafone are also unique in that they offer international tarifs, which although expensive (e.g. €46 for 20Mb, €87 for 100Mb) work out cheaper for the international surfer than simply using roaming rates. Advantage of these packages are that they only have a minimum term of 3 months, and can be changed, up or down on a monthly basis.
