I need help on this: I want to open various files in dwg format. The net says I need a program such as Bentley View or DWG Viewer (3.06) and that I can download them for free. But they want my data and I know I will be bombarded with spam, junk etc. mails.
Is there any way around this? Thanks.

Just get a free e-mail address from Hotmail, Gmail or any one of a dozen others and use that to sign up for the software.
Note, as you are new to the board I am being very restrained and will not refer to you anywhere as OnlyPartiallyBright

Can't - IT admin won't let me.
Thats an autocad file right? Just use fake data / email when downloading. I have a real but throwaway email address I use for such things.

Heh? They'll let you download software and sign up for Toytown but not create a new e-mail address.
Oh in that case, dont worry, IT Admin will have anti-spam set up just right so you wont have any problems, and IT Admin will supply you with the correct software.

Mailinator.com. A lot of those sites require confirmation of the address by sending the download URL to the address you give them. A lot of companies block standard mail services like Google, Yahoo and Hotmail. Mailinator is usually ignored.
Note: mail which arrives at mailinator is only held for 30-90 minutes.
Note 2: Some software and forum sites are starting to reject mailinator addresses.

You should be able to convert it to dxf or dwf if you have Autocad. However, if you use Bentley(MicroStation) viewer to view the file in dwg I doubt whether you will be bombarded with spam and junk mails. They are not that sort of company in my experience.

Ok, I'll bug IT about it then. I'd just hoped I could do it without them and pick your collective bright brains. Thanks, all.

If you happen to have Visio Professional on your machine, you might be able to import that .dwg and save yourself some trouble.
