I think the point Jeeves was making was will a banning order really stop these people coming to Munich and causing trouble if they want to. Surely sending them back to the UK would have been a more effective method?

well if you read JDee's post it sounds like they're bloody thickies, if they break the order i can imagine them being then flown home. i personaly feel they should have the passports confiscated when they return and banned from leaving the country for the next ten years. oh and their pictures on the front page of the sun.

'Sun' and 'reader' in the same sentence is a contradiction in terms. Does one need to be able to read to 'read' The Sun?

Needless to say, she didnt stay with us very long.

The worst thing for poor Poll, is that for 80 minutes he was perfect, and do not think he got a decision wrong (unlike the ref last night) but just lost his head after the 80th minute.

http://www.polizei.bayern.de/muenchen/news...ndex.html/16800latest pressmeldung of the bayern police
is in German but says along the lines of that the Stuttgart and Munich police are in contact about the English fans arrested in Stuttgart in preperation for a possible Semi final game in Munich and that 137 english fans who were "rounded up" in Stuttgart have been banned from the city of Munich.
All very fine and dandy, but how practicable is this ban? If these guys arrive by car or train there is almost no possibility of filtering them and dumping them outside city limits. I'm sure Taufkirchen for example won't be happy to suddenly host 100-odd pissed-off and pissed-up Englishmen.

Munich Hbf was/is CRAWLING with little green elves, also in plain clothes.
England fans wearing colours / drinking beer / talking loudly / singing are possibly likely to get controlled at the station or on inbound trains and any banned ones hoofed out.

i get the impression there has been an agreement with all media to keep any reporting about any scuffles - which they are at the moment at a minimum. i get the impression the media have been told again to concentrate on the 99.5% having a party or lose your acreditation for the next wm.

sorry but the white chair throwing of charleroi lasted as long as the one in stuttgart - from what i've been told from reliable sources - the difference has been the preration and response. belgiums water cannons or german police squads. and the media attention given. i hope though too that that was it from our fellow rather dim and stupid countrymen who feel that they can come over here and do this. fucking animals, i bet they're all southerners. but there again football is a prole game ;-)

Of the 122 only three were for more serious offences, including throwing chairs and the possession of drugs. Stefan Keilback, a spokesman for the Stuttgart police, was keen to stress that the majority of those held were very drunk. "There were no hooligans, just drunk people," he said.

Kind of related so I'll add it here.
I was at the Fan Park in the Munich OEZ for the match yesterday. Just after the match finished I was standing at the top of the steps and noticed these three "English supporters" walking past. Now I'm English so this isn't a slag of English fans but I have to say I took one look at these guys and just thought "f@#k". These guys just looked the stereotype of thugs. It wasn't the tatoos, it wasn't the fact that they were ugly as hell. It was just their look. They just seemed to be radiating menace (not anger). Have you ever seen Christopher Walken in True Romance- That bit when he's "asking" the father where his son is? Like that.
They wandered aound just looking- mainly at girls (fair enough) but then would just look at people and stare them out. They seemed ready to "go off" at any moment. Erratic movements, random dancing, then flex muscles. Bizarre...
I watched them for about 10 mins and then noticed these two german guys seemed to be aimlessly walking after them. These guys were well built, short haircuts but their clothes were more casual than their look. In other words classic undercover cops. I pointed them out to my companions and we watched the two groups for a minute or two when suddenly the two cops started walked off to a point about 100m away- Obviously their backup had spotted us, spotting them.
Funny but weird at the same time.

A couple of mates of mine flew over the other week. Whilst waiting for their flight from Manchester airport they kept getting lads dressed in England shirts coming up and chatting to them. Quite casual at the beginning “hey up mate where you from . Then they started trying to dig for info out of them about where they were staying, were they going to the match, are you meeting up with anyone when you get there, etc, etc. My mates being the clued up people they are knew straight away who they were.
I mean seriously tho do the OB think that they can’t be spotted from a mile away? Reminds me of two of them sat in the Red Lion on a Stoke v Vale derby drinking lemonade ffs. Doh!!!

Are these figures correct? You can have ten idiots causing trouble, but the riot police go in and arrest anyone in the vacinity. So not everyone is a hooligan!
