UK Channel 4 TV to simulcast on the internet

Be interesting to see if non-UK IP addresses will be able to access this - their T's and C's for video downloads do prohibit this...

Well if it's anything like BBC Radio 5s' live sport coverage we won't be able to get it. I've tried to get their F1 commentary whilst watching the race on RTL and it will not allow me to do it. Same with the footie.

In all likelihood access will be limited to the UK just like the BBC. Apparently they cite broadcast rights restrictions as the reason, which means that content intended for a UK audience should not be made available overseas.

Officially, no-one can. It's an encrypted channel requiring a card only available to UK addresses, and equipment only available in UK. Of course, as we all know there's ways round both...

Last time I lived here in 2001, I could get BBC and CNN Int., now I can no longer get BBC - does the fact that I have satellite outside of Munich have something to do with it?

I can get BBC world (in fact it's on the goggle-box as I type).
Thankfully, though, there is no Noel Edmonds in sight.

BBC moved to a different satellite in May 2003, joining ITV that had been there since November 2001. Although in the same direction as before (and the same direction as Sky) the signal in central Europe is MUCH weaker, so you need a larger dish than before - 90cm or larger...
