Well we'll have to keep it in mind for the future, always nice to go to a new place.
ian
Thanks Carm.

Schlösselgarten looks good.
Darkknight
Wimps.. The lot of ya.. Ubahns, Busses... Who needs'em biggrin.gif I say Walk to the Beerhall, and Earn your mass... (Only applies to those living directly in Munich)
ian
@DK: They are all trainspotters!

Incidentally. There will be some building work going on in the top end of the beergarden and we'll choose tables a bit further away to avoid it.

QUOTE ( THIS WEEK We ARE HERE! )
It seems to be official then. Friday 4th of May Löwebraükeller at Stiglmairplatz.
Sit outside if nice. Only go indoors if parky or wet.

TIME: From 5:45. Look out for Allershausen and his amazing Technicolour Red coat

U-Bahn U1 Stiglmairpl. Trem 20

Look for us up the top end in the sunshine. Catching those rays. (Or not depending on the building work)

This is not a bump. Just trying to make the location easier to find in the long thread!
Allershausen
Don't bank on the coat, I may or may not have it with me, it's all a bit vague at the moment. Not unlike myself!
helena
What's 'parky' when it's at home?
madgibson
You should know that girl, coming from up north!
helena
Remind MG, it's such a long time since I really lived there!
Allershausen
Tha' shud be ashamed lass!

Yeah I know - just as long ago as I did tongue.gif

I might be early too if the weather's nice...wot's the latest forecast?
Allershausen
This is the BBC. (You have to read this using a posh southern accent, non of this northern malarky)
Jeeves
Wot, no parky malarky?

Thanks for the non-bump, Ian. I'm obviously not the only one that was confused. This was getting worse than the curry thread for meaningless chat hiding the real message.
Oops.

U-Bahn U1 Stiglmairpl. Trem 20

So a trem is a tram with a posh southern accent? I would go to this but I'm afraid my brogue would out me as one of the lesser tribes.
It is on my way home though.
ian
Trem is German for Tram. Like Hendy. You can also stick a wobbly rrr in it with a bit of spit to get the full Bavarian Tr~r~r~r~r~chem

I like the BBC interview in the 60's where the highly educated southern posh interviewer talks down to 4 Liverpool yobs with funny haircuts.

Today FRIDAY BEERGARDEN Löwenbräukeller Stiglmairpl. from 17:30 ish

There has got to be at better way! Spontaneous threads get the title changed by the mods. Repeat events don't. Hmm... The Friday Beergarden also puts all the details on an email as well as the forum. So if anyone does not want to trawl through the posts they get it automatically in their inbox. (See Top)
Maybe we can have a way to edit the byline "Location varies each week"?

Today FRIDAY BEERGARDEN Löwenbräukeller, Stiglmairpl. from 17:30 ish
Yeti
With all this rr and spitting shouldn't it be Friday Burrgarten?
CitizenSmith
We can't call it the Friday Burrgarten, cos it'll make people think it's going to be too cold to sit outside. Which it won't

Lets change the title to the "Friday Sunny Meet-up with happy topless people. in the garten"

edit: that will attract the wrong crowd, who wants to see a bunch of semi naked beer bellies any way.
CitizenSmith
Just pretend I didn't write the last post
ian
I think this is all getting out of hand!

if we don't go to the Sitar, I'm not coming mad.gif
gideon
I say chaps, may I suggest the biergarden opposite my house. Its rather awfully easier for me to get there than any you've peeps have suggested.
Allershausen
Right, that's it, I've had enough of work and am setting off now. It should take me about 30mins so if anybody is thirsty I'll see you there! smile.gif
DSoul
How late do people hang out at the Friday night Beer Garden--haven't been, but I think too much Arbeit, a little too far away to get there near 5:30...
Darkknight
Until they kick us out!!! biggrin.gif
helena
or until it gets 'parky'...the more superior Friday beergarden attendees have clarified the situation! tongue.gif
ian
This Friday we'll be up in the Paulaner Gaststaette "am Nockherberg" hill from 18:00

If its nice enough we'll be in the beergarden as it gets the evening sun nicely. Otherwise we'll be in the Gaststaette (where the copper brewing equipment is)
See: www.nockherberg.com

You can partake in the Beer tasting (Bierprobe) for a small charge, 5 different Beers come in 0,2 glasses. Hmmm. That might be interesting. Very interesting!
You can even partake in it several times!!!

Acording to the BBC, it'll be 24° tomorrow!
which is great since I'll have my son with me.
ian
The BBC also says it will be 26 degrees in Cairo, Egypt, at the same time!
Munich <--> Cairo I dont know if they have beergardens in Cairo.
tiannac
hi, just moved here from chicago. will meet up with ya'll but how will i know where to find u?hmmm, talk soon, anya
Jeeves
Since Ian was kind enough to post his mobile number in post #2 you could always resort to that if all else fails.
Allershausen
If we are outside Ian usually brings an orange flag that he attaches to the table, so look out for drunks under the flag.
ian
Thanks for the reminder Allie. We'll put up out famous orange flag on the Beergarden table.
Look out for it.
  • Or call the number on the post.
  • Or walk up to groups of strangers and say "Toytown?", "Was?", "Oh sorry! I though you were..."
  • Or yell at the top of your voice!

Allershausen
Yes! laugh.gif
Captain Ridiculous!
Tendency: Getting Warmer and more sun. As far as that Blitz (lightning) goes, we'll dodge that bullet if it comes to it!
Just the excitement we need for a Friday Beergarden!

Darkknight
Anybody up for an Early start?? say 1730ish
ian
If thats the way of it, I'll start early too then. 17:45 I can make it.

I'll have the Orange flag up. So look out for it.
Allershausen
Is this a Maß Krug which I see before me,
The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.

I can't take it any more, I'm on my way!
CitizenSmith
I'll be there as soon as I can, this depends on the queue at the Post Office
ian
You are bringing them as well?
CitizenSmith
Hello Friday Beer Gardeners,
Due to the pathetic attempts of the weather to hold 'Summer', we have opted for the purely indoor option this week.

The venue is a Mexican Cocktail Bar: Sausalitos - Schwabing at Türkenstr. nr 50.

U3/6 Universität/ bus 154 to Türkenstr. or Tram 27 to Pinakotheken.
Google your way there with this map

Ian and I will be there from 6.30 pm,

for those of you that fancy "Going on" the "Alter Simple" is just over the road.

Some one mentioned curry too.

See you there,

Gwyn

Looks like its going to be still cool tonight. So we'll be inside in the throng of things.

All those gagging for a beergarden can come along on Saturday (where the weather will be scorchio!) to the Family-oriented beer garden Saturday 19.May.2007 @ Michaeligarten

Hi Ian, hi Gwyn,

I joined the Friday beer garden for the first time last week. The discussions about rattlesnakes, flying monkeys and how to bring down an airliner by eating bean curry were a substantial learning experience for me which I would be happy to repeat.

Hope to make it between 06.30 and 07.00. This week's location's conveniently close to my place ... excellent ...

See you later!

Georg

Yay! I might just join you tonight, tho I don't know any of you posters yet -- I was trying to get the Americans In Munich thread to come to Sausalito's with me tonight but had no takers, so I am thrilled that TTers will be there! Will note a number or two posted here so I can find you if need be. See you there!

NEWSFLASH: European airport authorities have announced new security restrictions. As of next week, air passengers will be required to wear airtight underwear for the duration of the flight. Passengers will be required to display their underwear, which must also be transparent and capable of being opened and re-sealed, at the security check to ensure that it conforms with the regulations. A spokesman for the airport authorities said the new restrictions were in response to a terrorist threat uncovered on a web chat forum...
