I just checked the link Ian posted and they appear to have tables set up outside at leos so I will be there at about 5:30. Of course they may not have them out, so I will just hang around looking shifty till everyone else arrives for the official start of proceedings!

EDIT: Or I will go to the Hofbraükeller as kat suggested. Course it's warm enough, bring a coat!
I think the Hofbraukeller is the best bet. There are no leaves on the trees so it catches the sun still.
CitizenSmith was also considering coming along there first.

Hi there,

see here for details
Hello my stonkers!
Its going to be a stonking 24 degrees on
Friday. Time for an afterwork beergarden at the
Taxisgarten! Yay!
Come along from
18:00 onwards. We'll be on tables on
the north edge towards the back unless anyone fancies a 17:00 start?
Boy am I ready for a long summer this year!

Incidentally, if you go to the link the Google satellite view of the beergarden, and zoom in
really close, you will see me sitting there already with my beer!
Hey! You can see I'm going a bit thin on top! Thats not fair! <drowns sorrows>
Edit: I've just spotted my dream house on the
Google satellite view. Its the one right between the
Taxisgarten and the
Concordia Park beergardens with the swimming pool! What a life!

I likes
Taxisgarten.

Me likes
Taxisgarten too. Haven't been there for ages. Do they still do those yummy potato wedges with a choice of avocado sauce or some other delicious sauce?
ian
Apr 12 2007, 12:30 pm
Oh the old "Country Kartoffels" Yes. You can even order half-half. Both Avocado and Kräuter sauce together! Quite a few other beergardens are following their lead now.
Incidentally, the
Taxisgarten is the original "Spare Rib" beergarten! And last year they were still very good! Me likes them!
Incidentally the Country Kartoffels are called American Potato in the Czech Republic!

I'm just thinking (ohhh, and the brain muscles are aching) ... tomorrow is the dreaded
Friday the Thirteenth, and I know a lot of TTers are superstitious, and might be fearful of venturing out on such a day. But there are ways to minimise the danger. For instance, not many people know that the negative energies of Friday the 13th can be completely neutralised by making a sufficiently generous gift to someone whose birthday falls on that day. This has been demonstrated in a very scientific experiment where 100 test persons each donated 100 Euros to the professor conducting the study, on his birthday, a Friday 13th. As a result, the test persons experienced no greater setbacks or mishaps than they would expect on a typical non-Fri-13 day. Some even reported they had better luck than usual. And this was a fairly large sample - 100 people, not just a small group. Now that's pretty convincing evidence, isn't it?
Anyway, the reason I'm waffling on about this is because, what with it being my birthday tomorrow, I am in a unique position to help people ward off the evil energies of Friday 13th. So, if I make it to the
Taxisgarten (hopefully!), I shall be generously accepting 100 Euro notes from anyone wishing to save themselves from doom. I feel I was predestined to do this, and I am asking for nothing in return.
Funny, its suddenly my birthday on the 13th too! And I was born on a Friday to boot!
GreenTea
Apr 12 2007, 2:51 pm
Ian - anyone can
say that ... but I have documents to prove it!
BTW, I don't really know what is the minimum amount of generosity needed to avert disaster. Donating 100 Euros to the birthday kid has been scientifically demonstrated to work, but if someone feels that is too much for them, they can contribute less - at their own risk, of course. Even starting a "Happy Birthday" thread on TT might - just
might - have some effect. They say it works if you believe in it.
Its all systems go!

I does.
Does that mean that it automatically starts at 5?
ian

If anyone else fancies a 5pm (or earlier!) start please post! So that we dont get people sitting on their own. (Who don't want to!) I'm aiming for 5:30.
Incidentally, whoever is the first to arrive, we'll take a couple of tables at the top end. (See the pointy bit of the Blue Tab here:

I will be at the Biergarten as early as I can escape from work. I've actually already fulfilled my 38 hour work-week, but my boss has been making report requests like he's on speed and has that maniacal look in his eye still. When his lunch begins to digest, his blood-pressure may go down and I'll be able to slip away. I think 16:30 is a definite possiblilty for me. Maybe even earlier if I work fast. Who else is going early? Who to look for, and where in the Biergarten?
Jeeves
Apr 13 2007, 12:45 pm
I'll probably be there about 4:30 too.

UN, do you really believe what TT'ers write in their profiles?
I shall be bringing proof for the disbelievers! And if anyone still has the audacity to doubt my sincerity, well, April 13th might just turn out to be unlucky for them.
Ve haff ways of making you believe.

Hi Folks
We're going to take advantage of the
Frühlingsfest this week as on the
other thread. We're meeting up on Friday in the
Augustiner tent at the
Frühlingsfest! from
18:00 (20th April)
We'll be sitting in the first few rows in from the front entrance. Look out for people you recognise (fairly redundant sentence) or message/call me on 0172 8227752 to find out exactly where we are sitting. If anyone gets there early and gets a place, please let me know (SMS message) so I can pass it on to any others who may be early.
Its going to be like the Oktoberfest all over again! 'cept its nothing like it!
Ian

The Frühlingsfest is at the
Theresienwiese (the Oktoberfest site)

I will be there about 6pm and as Ian can't come till a bit later I will try to get a couple of tables near the front entrance. It won't be easy I imagine, so if anyone can get there at the same time we can spread ourselves out a bit. PM me if you want my handy number. I will also inform Ian where we are so you can contact him if you prefer.
Jeeves

It's nothing like the Oktoberfest in size, that's for sure.
Anyhow, here's the latest report from the Western Front:
The first of the tents – the one in the middle of proceedings – is the Paulaner. It’s not finished yet, but then one is not interested in that one, is one.
The Augustiner is at the back, to the left of the Ferris wheel. It is finished but it was also locked, so I’ve no idea what it’s like inside.
As for the sitty-outsidey bits, well I didn’t see any of those but they’re probably just not set up yet. I had to walk round twice before I found the uncovered courtyard that was there in previous years. That is even less finished than the Paulaner tent and they’ve stuck a merry-go-round in front of it just so that nobody can see it.
Thankyou Jeeves live from the
Frühlingsfest and now its back to the studio!

Weather looking not bad. But I suspect it'll get cool quickly.
So its still plan A. Augustiner Tent nearer to the big (Ferris) wheel. Inside from 18:00.
Call or sms me if you get lost in a sea of
lederhosen, beer and
Dirndl cleavages.
Anyone got a video bump to get us singing all our favourite Oktoberfest songs ready for tonight?

This Friday we will be going to the Augustiner Biergarten on Arnulfstrasse.

Also the Tram 17 is a good option, or the sbahn to hackerbrucke

(tram 16 stops running later in the evening)

Apr 25 2007, 11:35 am
Or just walk from the
Hbf. It's only 2 minutes walk. Saves messing around with trams.
Allershausen
Apr 25 2007, 11:38 am
Well yes, but presumably the tram starts somewhere other than the
Hauptbahnhof and maybe therefore useful to someone who lives/works close to one of its stops. Or is the Hauptbahnhof the start of the line?
Jeeves
Apr 25 2007, 12:43 pm
Or if you're on the S-Bahn anyway, get off at Hackerbrücke. Then you only have to roll down the slope off the bridge.

Rolling down usually occurs after the biergarten visit!
