Start time is 1900 and the Reservation is under the name Toytown.. As always whoever gets there early, guards the tables..

It's all quite simple. Get there early and eat something small straight away. You know, the old stomach liner. Stops you getting pissed!
Then have a skin full of the cheap beer they selling. Then, later, when folks want to go on for that late night spicy murg, you're ready! Not too hungry, not too pissed. Easy!

always be one person who really,
really wants to go to a particular place! Just follow the pack.

I like to think of it as friendly fire, unless the MadMaxMurderer has spoilt it by telling the curry lads we all want it extra extra spicy. . . then it doesn't sound so frendly to me.

Food: Rubbish
Drinks: Excellent! Beer Very cheap! Large Mineral Water with a lemon in 1Euro!
Funny, we tried the Koelsch Beer for a laugh. Not quite the Bavarian thing. But good for a change. It comes in 0.2 mini glasses for 1Euro. We all odered at leat 2 at a time!
Conclusion: Good for drinks, then go on somewhere else for food.

never heard of them, sorry for the lack of help.
if you are looking for something out that way, what about Spektakal in Pfeuferstr (spelling?) in the bar area. I have only ate at the restaurant, so I don't know how busy the bar area gets.
Thanks. Spektakel is an old favourite of the Beergardeners. They give us the an area at the back that has lots of space.

FYI, I occasionally walk past this place, and I noticed it changed its name a couple of times in the last year. It's currently a pizzeria/cafe/restaurant/bar called "Antonio". Don't have a phone number though.
Ok, thanks. We won't go there then! Someone said the new Wassermann in Baaderstr. is good! How about it?
They havn't reviewed it yet on Toytown. Perhaps we can do a full Toytown test?: Prices. Coolness. How easy it is to annoy the waiter...

To all you thirsty winter mode-ers,
After an exhaustive search a decision has been made:
To offer a mix of beer, food and cocktails we will meet at the
The (New) Wassermann, Fraunhoferstr. 39 at 7pm. Tel.13937710.
The table is booked in the name Phillips.
This is the place previously known as Baaders, not to confused with Douglas Baader who had a Spit (or is that Douglas Baader who Spat). Not to be further confused with the famous Munich Hurricane, you have to count the propeller blades.
Consequently we expect you all to be legless by the end of the evening.
Tally ho.
QUOTE
The new Wassermann still looks like the old Baader's. Prices and cocktail hours seem to be the same.

We did. But you had to catch the last U-Bahn...
ian
Jan 21 2007, 12:16 am
So there you all were standing outside the door of the bar, probably discussing where to go far a quick last beer. (Or a curry im some cases) and I had to miss it to get the stupid U-Bahn cos my scheiss armourded bike tyre let me down.
Still, we had a good night out. I met some more Toytown "names" and fell foul of the German law "last to pay gets to pay for missing taquilas". I failed to give the waitress the tip I wanted to give her. My warning that if she tries to bully me she loses the tip, went unheeded. How can I save her next time?
Cheers and TTFN!
(Toytown Friday Nights)
Now get to bed Jeeves!
Allershausen
Jan 21 2007, 10:23 am
Did you actually have to pay for the Tequilas? Because I only saw two people drinking them and you could probably get your money back from them. Although one of them might not remember actually drinking them, due too a slight over indulgence causing him to leave early!
Jeeves
Jan 21 2007, 10:28 am
I thought you didn't pay for the tequilas and in the end payed exactly what you'd worked out you should pay. But no tip was certainly the way to go.

I'm 100% sure that the one who over indulged and left early has no recall of Tequila

and would be more than happy to get them in next time.
Had a great time in Wassermann, very friendly bunch of people.
ian
Jan 21 2007, 12:18 pm
Have no fear. As a seasoned payer of bills and all round argumentative chap I paid only for what I had had. Sadly I was unable to give a tip. Which she was going to get. Right up until the very last moments of the evening.
That sort of argument used to spoil or taint my evening a bit. But these days I keep an exact log of what I consume and somehow feel that I am "helping them" do the right thing by sticking to my principles. Or so my logic goes at that time of night.
Allershausen
Jan 21 2007, 1:24 pm
Well done, I'd hate to think that you'd compromised your principles purely because the waitresses were friendly and attractive!

It's a shame that they screw up like that, because it was a good place, good service and good food. You need to add a note to the start page reminding everyone to bring a pen!
Jeeves
Jan 21 2007, 5:35 pm
Aye, then pen and beermat tactic seems to defeat them every time. Still, it was entertaining to watch a waitress who at the start of the evening was causing a nudge-nudge-wink-wink to go through the male ranks become a "stupid bitch" (if not in so many words) by the end of the same evening. Oh how fickle we are
Otherwise good place, good service until the end. Food - don't know because I didn't eat, but it didn't look too special. It was worth holding out for the curry that we still managed to find.
Hello snow queens! (Narnia)
Welcome to
winter at last! Some hate it Some love it! Me? As long as I can drink it, I'm happy!
Friday we are in the "
Der Pschorr" in the
Schrannenhalle at the
Viktualienmarkt from
19:00 tomorrow!
For those of you who have not yet been to the
Der Pschorr or the Schrannenhalle, the Der Pschorr is like a
respectable beer hall, connected to the Schrannenhalle. Which is a type of
indoor market with various food stalls and some culture thrown in! (But not too much!)
We have tables booked in the name of "Mister Bogart" (whoever he is!)
