Even though my girlfriend's illness forced us to leave early last time, we enjoyed the get-together and are planning on attending this Friday.
I realize you don't really have to enroll for this event but hey, whatever

Sorry if we're a little shy at first.

OK Eggy. Good to hear it. I'll try to get to talk to you this time... Anyway!
This week we're invading
Tresznjewski, Theresienstr. 72 from
18:45 ish-ish in Maxvorstadt.
No I didn't fall asleep on the keyboard again. the bar is really spelled like that!
I booked in the name Mister Blair. And we have
all the up standing tables near the door.
To everyone who came last week, I promise it will be just as good this time! Its all down to those who turn up.
So all are welcome. Newbies 'specially!

The Blair you booked under, is that the semi disgraced Chief of Police Blair or the semi disgraced Prime Minister Blair? Or maybe this
Blair or was it
somewhere called Blair? (Did they really name a place Nebraska?)

The Otoe (a Native American tribe) named it that. It means "flat water." Sometimes when you steal a country it's nice to keep some of the original place names.

Zimmer, no-one cares what or how much you drink or don't drink, as long as you're enjoying yourself. After more than 30 years in Bavaria, I've got the skill of making one beer last all evening down to a fine art. Probably a good thing, coz I'm crazy enough sober!

Here is a new Friday competition. We are looking for more great places for future Friday Beergardens in order to keep up the variety.
There is a prize of free beer to whoever comes up with the best venue that fits the following criteria:
- Standing type tables
- Space for about 60 people
- Somewhere new on a Friday (see previous venue list)
- Non smoking
- Good atmosphere
- Can be reached within 25mins from the centre of town. (if its really good, the extra few minutes will be worth it)

Right then, thinking cap on ... no, hang on, how much free beer? Is that, like, one glass, or free drinks every Friday, along with a badge of merit, a certificate to hang on the wall, and endless respect and adulation from one's fellow FBGers? I'm not in this solely for material gain, you know.

Here is a new Friday competition. We are looking for more great places for future Friday Beergardens in order to keep up the variety.
There is a prize of free beer to whoever comes up with the best venue that fits the following criteria:
Fliegerbräu[*]Standing type tables = Not sure
[*]Space for about 60 people = Yes
[*]Somewhere new on a Friday = Yes
[*]Non smoking = of course
[*]Good atmosphere = Awesome with planes
[*]Can be reached within 25mins from the centre of town. = 20 minutes from
Hauptbahnhof and 8 minute straightwalk with no turns.
Here is a TT review I wrote some time ago.
"Fliegerbräu is a great place! Bavarian fare food of above average quality and quantity. Excellent Weissebier made on the premises. Aviation themed. Photos and paintings of Airplanes, Nav maps, and related 60s adverts. And at 2200 you get handed some sheets of A4 paper to make paper airplanes and fly them in normally no fly zones. Vegetarian dishes are available. Service was good. Never had to wait more than 5mn for a refill. All in all a wonderful place. 8min straight (no turns) walk from the Feldkirchen S-bahnhof (10mn back if you drink). It would seem to me a great Friday or Saturday night TT venue. Check S-bahn times for late returns to Munich. Only 11mn from
Ostbahnhof. I am going back soon.
(Helles please)
Take care, space

Stonking.
There were about 60 of us with a smattering of newbiws.
I went on to the Sonar Bangla Theresienstr.138 with Lurker Mark, which does Bangladeshi food. Top quality, just opened and eagerly awaiting a wednesday curry visit.
There was no air guitar music, but they played that "
everybody dance now" song repeatedly. You know, the one they played in the Simpsons steelworks scene where Homer wanted to show Bart some real tough hetero men. But it turned out they were all gay and dancing to that song.

Been there, done that, got the beer stained T-shirt.
Unfortunatly they have high tables but not enough AND they won't lend them out, they keep them for their regulars.
Oh and the serving staff are very very mincy! (Which is ok I suppose but these ones are territorial)

This Friday I've reserved the whole front bar area at
Bobolowski in Schwabing from 7pm
Bobolowski has good Tex Mex type food and cocktails. Such as Caipis! Which is the plural of Caipi. I had to stick an 's' on the end making it Caipis. Don't order a Cai-piss! Say Caiparinhas if necessary, rather than make an embarrassing fool of yourself.

There once was a man who did not have a fear
when he sat down and drank a six pack of beer
his belly did bloat, his weight it did rise
but the beer gave the feeling of being so wise
The thought of it cooling, so frosted and near
in the mug it sits so golden that beer
the taste is so good never bitter or queer
bringing always a laugh and never a tear
Many a time in that room full of FBG'ers
a wrong emotion did come from that beer
and he ended up sleeping with a queer

Having just checked my bus and train times on the
MVV website, it would appear that the U-Bahn station at

Someone PM'd me and told me that it was the case 2 nights ago. Strange that you don't get the same result, however, I'll get off at
Dietlindenstrasse and walk the rest of the way, it'll help me build up a thirst.

Edit: I just tried
Marienplatz to
Münchener freiheit, to arrive at 18:30 and it says get off at
Giselastrasse and get the bus, so be prepared to walk people!
CitizenSmith
Oct 23 2008, 8:14 pm
Ah! if you type in Ursulastr.12 you get
this (It thinks it is is quicker to change to a bus) and if you give the destination as
Münchner Freiheit you get
thisThere are road works on
Leopold str and the busses are all messed about, but the Ubahn station is open and the Münchner Freiheit is the closet public transport stop anyway. I think it is a case of the web engine trying to be too clever.
EDIT: You only need to use the second link above, if you select Münchner Freiheit (wichtige punct) you have to take a bus and if you select Münchner Freiheit(haltestelle) you can get out at Münchner freiheit!

Would it be presumptuous to add another criterion: Acoustics/noise level such that conversation is possible even when the place is full?
Re Münchner Freiheit: The U-Bahn station is getting a major facelift. Last weekend one platform was completely closed off, and they were operating some complicated system whereby some trains stopped at the station, others didn't. I'd be surprised if they closed the whole station completely though.
The bus stops are all messed about due to the demolition of the old bus station and construction of a new one. Not too much of a problem if you take a bus
to Münchner Freiheit - it will drop you off somewhere nearby. Bit of a pain though trying to figure out where to wait for your bus if you want to go
from Münchner Freiheit.
