Unusual question for me as I'm usually the first there and first away but how long do people tend to stay out? I'm off for dinner with an old friend near rotkreutzplatz but could drop in later.
bluedave
I think you can guarantee at least 10.30.

I don't have the orange flag with me today. So If anyone can bring some identifying object, such as baloons, flags or something inflatable with them, and post it here, that would be great. For newbies, I'm wearing an orange shirt. But call me when you get there if the beergarden is super crowded and we don't get the exact spot marked in the Map link above.
CitizenSmith
I'll wear my Welsh Rugby Tshirt, its Red with WALES printed on the front.
bluedave
I'll have a mass in my hand. smile.gif
GreenTea
I have a bright yellow brolly which would be an eye-catching marker when opened, but I guess if the need arises to open it we won't be hanging around outdoors anyway. Also, it now looks like I'll be along later (as usual) if at all.

BTW, does anyone know the Italian girl, Cristiana from Trieste, who was there last Friday? It turns out I know an old friend of hers (small world, isn't it?), and he would like to get back in touch with her, but now I have no idea how to contact her. If someone knows her, or if she's there tonight (and if I'm not), maybe someone could ask her for her contact details for me to pass on to her friend. Grazie.

What time are the early birds coming out play? Anyone planning to make it by 6 or earlier?
CitizenSmith
I'll aim for 6 and probably miss and hit 6:15-6:30

Sad to say, it is currently persisting it down in Haidhausen. sad.gif

Maybe we will get the rain out of the way early and have a nice evening instead of t'other way round. rolleyes.gif

Rain has gone. smile.gif

A classic and an old favourite!

We'll have loads of tables at the Augustinerkeller Biergarten in Arnulfstr. on Friday from 6pm. If you want to start earlier, post a time here to get the beer buds of the early birds watering.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Newbies too!

To Find us...
- If you enter the side entrance we'll be in the middle of the long tables on your right. About 8 rows away from the side fence.
- If you come in through the front, Arnulfstr, entrance, walk through the middle of the beergarden till you've passed the beer self service on your right. We'll be on the left of the path. Halfway between the Steckerlfish grill and the kids play area.
- I'll have the familiar Orange Flag up to help you find us. (With baloon this time!)
- Or call or SMS my mobile number: 0172 8227752
- Zoom in on our exact location with this link to my home made location on Google Maps link

Cheers, take care! Watch out for the amazing baloon! No expense spared!

Ian

If the weather suddenly goes all wrong, we'll be inside or just outside under the covers.
Transport: It's easy to get to on the S Bahn Hackerbrueke or Tram 17
MooreOrLess
Sounds good I will be coming along for sure. As a newbie I look forward to it and hope the weather holds out!
MooreOrLess
Oh yeah and Ian not sure what a baloon is, but I suspect you mean "balloon" :-)
Pas
Instead of all this 'Google Street View' they should do a 'Google Biergarten View'.

Yes. Why did I write it like that? I must need a beer!
bluedave
Anyone know of a good bus route to there? ph34r.gif
Allershausen
You probably Googled it! tongue.gif

I will try to remember my coat so that it doesn't rain!

Thanks , perfect.

As soon as the Spanish speaking group work out I can't speak a word of Spanish and they kick me out I may well wander over.

Thankyou guys, lovely night. smile.gif

We’ve all been in the mood for beergardens for so long but the weather gods seem to be on holyday!
However the forecast is improving every minute and it looks like we will be able to sit outside this week.
If we are let down, again this weeks venue has a great inside option too.

This week we're in the Biergarten im Bavariapark from 18:00 meeting outside in the area of the long tables near the serving Schänke counter thingy.
This place is great as it's 5 mins walk from the U-Bahn U4/5 Schwanthalerhöhe which is only 2 mins from the Hauptbahnhof. Hooray!

Outside: Look out for the famous orange flag at our long tables. (Not the type of table in the picture below) But if you cant find us, call or SMS me.
Inside: We will reserve the standing tables inside for later should it turn cool. They are by the bar in what is called the Schwemme. Which, translated means watering place, public bar or glut! See the picture of the "barrel tables" below. I booked in the name of Douglas Bader.

Address: Biergarten im Bavariapark. Wirtshaus Alte Messe, Alte Kongresshalle. Theresienhöhe 15
Directions: From the U 4/5 Schwanthalerhöhe Exit the U-Bahn in the direction of the Deutsches Verkershmuseum, the beergarden is directly in across from of the Transport museum entrance. (If you get out at Theresienwiese it is a little bit further to walk)
Google Maps : See the blue location marker plus the route from the U-bahn in blue.
See a web review

GreenTea
Ooh good! I like that place. Especially the Tegernseer beer, reputed to be even better than Augustiner (which they also serve). But if you want the Tegernseer, be sure to ask specifically for it, otherwise they may assume you want Augustiner.
GreenTea
Just looking at the Google map: As I recall (having been there twice recently) you don't need to make a U-shaped detour around that long building. Can't you just go in a straight line (well OK, maybe with a few zig-zags depending how many Mass you had) from the Biergarten to the U-Bahn, passing through the gap between the two buildings?
Allershausen
You're right, if you see the giant snail, you're there! smile.gif
Jeeves
Yes, in a word
ian
Please note: This week the Orange flag is in for a service so we will have to find an alternative sticky-uppy thing to help people identify us outside in the beergarden.
And of course you can always call me on 0172 8227752 if you cant locate us easily.

OK I've Julie fixed it.

No, the giant snail is far out!
GreenTea
Ha, I see you've relocated the detour to go around the giant snail. Well, there has to be some purpose to the snail, I suppose.
ian
Snails can be very useful!

Hi, Just arrived in Munich on tuesday and would like to meet up with you all for a beer this evening. If you don't have the orange flag, should one ask for Douglas at the bar wink.gif
ian
We'll be sitting outside in this very fine weather. Please look on the Google Map. The blue arrow on the map will get you into the "zone"
However, Whoever gets there first, please improvise a makeshift flag, fashioned from a bent stick with a dirty napkin attached to the top. The sticks are available in the nearby trees. Hunter gatherers, this is where you come in.

Or call Gwyns number 01733510658. I'm stuck in work and will be there at 7pm.
CincyInDE
anyone arriving before 6? I mean besides me.
GreenTea
No idea yet what time I'll be there (hopefully still in time to catch the sun), but I'll be bringing my yellow umbrella. So if you see a group of people with an opened yellow brolly affixed or suspended in some way nearby, you will know that they are barking mad and are therefore the Friday Beer Garden crowd.
CitizenSmith
I'm setting off soon. Probably be there about 6. I'll bring a smallish Welsh Flag.

If you don't know what one looks like, it is White and Green with a Red Dragon in the middle,

See you there,

Gwyn

What's the world coming to these days if u have to teach people what a Welsh flag looks like :-)

ian
Does't every body know what the Welsh flag looks like? Sort of a monster and stuff. The Georgian one too! Its's all on Google.
Fridays is a peaceable place. We don't give a flying monkey. Just lots of happy people people tonight.

So, the clock is ticking and still no announcement...it's the long night of shopping tomorrow evening...somewhere central would be good so we can pop in to FBG for refreshments smile.gif
DDBug
Oh dear! Thanks for that reminder!!!

Shop shop shop... beer beer beer ... shop shop shop ... beer beer beer - sounds like an ideal Friday night! biggrin.gif
ian
Yep. Give us a minute. We're still talking to the folk at LHC Cern to zap away some of the clouds due over Munich. If that fails, we'll pick an indoor place for Friday.

Ok Already.

Wetter.com says 80% chance of rain, and not just your ordinary wet stuff.

So we have decided to goto Ysenegger, Ysenburg str. 3, near Rotkreutz platz.

They have great cocktails and tall tables, which I booked in the name of Dr Lyn Evans.

Here is a map

See you there,

Gwyn

P.S. All are welcome, newcommers too.
Any problems finding us call me on 0173 351 0658
GreenTea
Nice place, Ysenegger. smile.gif

You mean we're getting dry rain now? See, I knew something like this would happen. All those physicists at CERN messing around with strange matter.
bluedave
What bus route is that on? huh.gif
DDBug
Oh poo, no where near the shopping.

shop or beer??? hm.
CitizenSmith
its on the 53, just change at M.F.H. fron the 54
GreenTea
@DDBug: It's only 3 U-Bahn stops from Hauptbahnhof. Besides, there are quite a few nice shops nearby. Dunno if they're open till midnight though.

@bluedave: Alternatively, you can take the 54 to Harras, and change there for either the 53 or the 132 (which goes by a more roundabout route). The journey might take half the evening, but as a bus addict, who cares?

Even I know that there are loads of shops between Marienplatz and Sendlinger Tor, from whence you can take U1 to Rotkreuzplatz, studying your new shiny purchases on the way.
