Ah well, the bridge turned out to be not too traumatic after all, despite having a dragon on it. Thanks CS for the song suggestions - sorry I didn't respond yesterday, but I was having a hectic day, and on top of that I was supposed to be flouncing.

Another great Friday Beer Garden followed by partying until the sun came up. Finally staggered home around 7 a.m. wacko.gif

Just for the record, in case there were any issues with unpaid drinks at Cafe Blue: I had two Planter's Punch and one Mojito, at 8 euros each = total 24 euros. However, my printed receipt tells a different story, namely:

Planters Punch : 8.00
Pink Panther : 6.50
Diverse Getraenke : 1.10
Mojito : 8.00

TOTAL : 23.60

I didn't look at the receipt when I paid, and the total amount was pretty close to what I was expecting, so I just assumed it was correct. Hope they didn't try to charge anyone else for one of my Planter's Punches.

Great night!
I put up 40 yoyos for the forgotten.
Give the yoyos to Ian please at the next FBG
From the receipt. (I can scan it if you want).
Tag 4 - €6.90
Blue Night Hour - €5.20
4 x Export - €3.00 (total €12.00)
2 x Dunkles - €3.00 (total €6.00)
3 x Weissbier - €3.30 (total €9.90)
Thank you in advance.
Take care,
space

The waitess was mixing things up and forgetting peoples orders all night. In those cases they often tally up wrongly at the end of the evening. So I dont trust her claims. Especially when, apart from the odd drink, we never get a discrepancy like that at other places. The last time was at Juleps last year. Same sloppy service followed by 8 Euros outstanding.
So the golden rule is 1) be sure of what you have had. Mark a beer mat or P.A.Y.G. and then 2) Don't let them bully you into paying for something you didn't have.

If you did forget something, then let me or Space know. And we'll get him his money back. And on other occaisions, pay the bar back next time you go.

Righto folks

This week we're supporting the great TT tradition. Now in its 3rd Carnation, the Expats in Silver Hats III meetup in a beergarden. How could we not?
We're in the Hofbäukeller Innere Wiener Str. 19 from 6pm. Come earlier if you are hot for it!

Now theres plenty to read on that thread about the silver hats business. But put it this way. You'll kinda look out of place without a silver hat!
Don't worry. It does not have to be real silver! But points are awarded for creativity.

Look out for the orange flag this week as well as a sea of silver.
Wet weather. We'll be indoors there.

Is that an in-Carnation or an out-Carnation?

What does an alien look like? Funny, but we puny earth people seem to know exactly what they look like!

My kiddos, and others I'm sure, will be making and selling protective silver colored hats if you don't have one. So you have no excuses.

What does an alien look like?

I'm pretty certain Editor Bob is an alien. TT is just his mind control device.

The question should be: What does Editor Bob look like?
Ravski
I heard he was created from kryptonite.
bluedave
Somebody said Ed Bob is the Stig's brother. ph34r.gif
CitizenSmith
Some say he wasn't Born but Laid,
Some say that if he moves quickly he changes colour,
and you can use his hair to mend fuses,

We just call him Editor Bob.
ian
He looks like the wizard of Oz actually. And sometimes sends his mild-mannered side kick along to check us out.
RS500Guy
Oh man, painful, as I got lost again going home, but great as usual.
Ozged
Hi Ian, am back from parts afar. Are you watching the weather to decide potential locations or just keeping everyone on their toes?
ian
@Ozged. Indeed we are! And welcome back! Have no fear. The Friday beergarden is still happening.

This week we reveal more of Munich at the Hopfengarten in Wespark from 18:00 or earlier.
We'll get some tables on the right if you're facing the food counter. Look out for the orange flag.

This beergarden is famous for its live music! Where all the old smuckers get up to dance. Luckily they won't be playing grandma's favourites on Friday. It's shite!

Everybody is welcome to come along. Newbies too. Get to meet loads of people.
Call me if you don't know anybody and can't find us.

Public transport: It is really very easy to get to. Trust me!
Only 10 Mins from the Haupbahnhof. U4 U5 to Heimeranplatz then Bus 133 to Siegenburgerstrasse (just 1 minute walk to the beergarden)
Or get out of the U4 U5 at Schwanthalerhöhe and take the Bus 134 to Baumgartenerstr. Walk 10 mins through the park.
Look on the Google Map for our exact location:

Excellent, I've never been to this one, I think. Getting there should be no problem as soon as I can work out what a bus is! biggrin.gif
I just looked at their website and noticed that it closes at 10pm, so we'd better get there early so we can drink the required amount! smile.gif

This is a great place! I used to go there for lunch (when I worked near there, obviously).

Thanks for clarifying as i was gonna say that i didn't realise that was part of Schwabing. ph34r.gif

Obviously it is. Since I never leave Schwabing, then anyplace I go must be Schwabing. rolleyes.gif Silly.

Allers, talk to Bluedave. He didn't know what a bus was either, until a couple of weeks ago when he found a charabanc that went all the way from his place to the Englischer Garten. He must be an expert by now.

Meself, well I never really venture that far out southwest, and I'm a bit worried about the crocodile-infested swamps. Is it safe to navigate the backwaters by canoe?

I'm a bit worried about the crocodile-infested swamps.

That is soo not true!
They've managed to get rid of them all! ..Mostly.
They put some stuff down. "Crocs-away" or something.

This reminds me of an old joke:
A bloke is walking down the middle of Oxford Street in London throwing brick dust onto the road.
A bobby comes up to him and says, " Why are you throwing brick dust into the road?"
The guy answers, "To keep the crocodiles away."
Says the Bobby, "There aren't any crocodiles in Oxford Street!"
And the guy answers," Yeah I know, good stuff isn't it!"

Boom Boom!

Only if it's the 54 bus, i'm still blissfully ignorant of the rest. smile.gif

Ah! The old 54! Brings back memories.

Ian, how is your weather radar predicting the night will go? Is there a plan B if the storms break (plan A of course to just get very wet).
ian
As it stands we are still on for the Hopfengarten. If things really do turn bad. Thje wet weathjer plan is to go to the nearby Cafe Westend in Ganghoferstraße 50 right by Schwanthalerhöhe U-Bahn. See www.cafe-westend.com
But we dont think it will get bad as we use a very powerful search machine to find the most optimistic weather forecast there possibly can be. And go with that! Source Wetter.com

I'm going to make my way over there soon with Tony and Dylan. Any one else up for an early start?

Just spoken to Ian and they are still in the beer garden at the present time and he says the weather is ok where they are.
ian
We had 3 tables in the beergarden in total. As in the Hopfengarten it didn't start to rain till quite late. We had tables under one of those big umbrellas so we continued to get drinks and stay there. But then the food stall closed and those who hadn't eaten made the move across the park to Cafe Westend. Some even used Satellite navigation to get there. Which took them via Salzberg!
dooblie
Hi Ian,

Just in case you ever decide to head out to Hopfengarten again when the weather looks a bit dodgy, I thought I'd prepare this easy to use guide to show the shortcut to Westend Cafe...

You said it would take about 15mins, but our shortcut took at least 3 times that, and included: -

- 5 people we met along the way who did not have a clue where Ganghoferstrasse was (nor Westend cafe)
- a bridge (not the one that you told us about though!)
- 1 guy from the USA who couldn't believe he met a non-german in Westend (and knew Westend Cafe and which bus we needed, he was our saviour :-)
- the most torrential rain ever known in Munich (a real bonus for the two guys in shorts and t-shirts :-)
- the 133 Bus (3 stops to Heimeranplatz)
- a stop in another pub near Heimeranplatz U-Bahn (we needed to dry out and, again, ask for directions) - Side note, the burgers looked great at this place, and the waitresses were really good looking..

Was still a good night though!

Cheers!

See you next FBG... If I find it...

ian
Thanks for the tip. That was exactly the route I suggested, except for cheating by using a bus.
An alternative is to get a pocket nav system or load one onto your phone. Although as we proved on Friday, set it to "by foot" otherwise it will take you the long way. I dont know of a nav system that includes public transport though.

This week we have great pleasure to announce that we will be in the beergarden of the Paulaner Bräuhaus (at Kapuzinerplatz 5) from 18:00 this Friday
The forecast is somewhat dodgy but I’m sure there will be a window where sitting outside is possible. So hopefully on Friday the only cloudy thing will be their home brewed unfiltered beer!

We will only be inside in the beer hall if the weather suddenly turns really bad. Otherwise we'll definitely be outside.
It’s a short walk form Götheplatz, front of the train from town, up to surface and left down Kapuzinerstrasse

U3/6 Götheplatz

See you there,

Gwyn

Any problems finding us call me on:

If we have to go inside the tables will be booked under the name of Poor Old Zara Phillips who can come along ‘cos her ‘orse is bad.

This week we offer a special service: Directions to the Wet Weather Venue
