oi, Dave!

apparently there is bus-stop on the corner of Sankt-Cajetan-Strasse and Balanstrasse, just round the corner from your abode. The bus 54 leaves there at every 10 minutes, so 17:42, 17:52, 18:02. 25 minutes later it will drop you right outside the chinese tower (don't forget to press the button or the bus might not stop!). Think you manage that or shall i post a map?
ian
And here is a handy Streifenkarte for you. Just stick it in the slit in the little blue box until it goes "ker-chunk!" Easy!

Bet you get a cab. I would.
GreenTea
Note that the buses on the 54 route are of the kind where you have to press a button on the outside of the bus to make the door open so you can get on.
GreenTea
Helpful hint for those heading there via the U3/U6: Exit Giselastrasse U-Bahn at the northern end, and you'll find the 54/154 bus stop just off Leopoldstr., in the Martiusstr. right beside the Don Luca bar/restaurant which is on that corner.

Tram addicts with a bus phobia can go via a totally different route and take the number 17 tram. Get off at Tivolistr. for the Chinese Tower, or Mauerkircherstr. for Catwalk.

OG is at the tower now enjoying his first mass.

He is sitting at the small rows of tables to the left of the tower when facing the Schenke.

I"m on my way there in 5 minutes. smile.gif

well since i couldn't find anyone and i have other plans later, I am no longer at CT. have fun, those who turn up.

Or if the sky is looking really apocalyptic by then, maybe I'll just go straight to Catwalk and sit there smugly waiting for you lot to turn up drenched and bedraggled.

Very tempting GT...mind you the apocalyptic sky seems to have passed over Arabellapark now so I suppose I'll head to the CT after all!

Spot on GT (Sin had the right idea too) - didn't know you had psychic powers! Glad you got your bus - unusual for a driver to stop when he's not at an official stop. Good night despite the soaking smile.gif

Miserable buggers took down our beer shelters sad.gif

A soggy night, inside and outside. laugh.gif

CatWalk excelled them selves. They were fairly full when I arrived and luckily got a table for 5, and told the waitress that another 15 would be arriving soon. They moved one or two and made enough space for us all, without any agro at all. Brilliant! I expect they've have had to do this before due to their proximity to the Chinese tower.
RS500Guy
We witnessed the indigenous creatures fashion a makeshift hut from materials available near their nesting area.

It was exciting as the storm hit. People did not know what to do. Some stood in the rain, some sheltered at the shänke Others ran for the Catwalk. And some argued with the shelter police. But up to then is was calm and sunny and I counted 45 of us. And there was even an emotional moment when Editor Bob 'came out' to GreenTea!
CitizenSmith
I'd have thought he'd be much drier in his closet. or was it another sort of coming out.
GreenTea
Well, what a night! Maybe I should have gone straight to Catwalk and avoided a soaking, but then I would have missed the unforgettable experience of finally coming face to face with the Great One, Editor Bob. Oh dear ... I had waited so long for this moment, and there were so many things I had wanted to say ... but when the moment finally came, I was so overwhelmed by the awesomeness of it that all I could do was stammer: "Oh, my God!"

I think I may have started a new religion. ph34r.gif

I also realised last night that the best conversations in fact take place outside, at the smoking breaks. Was having a great conversation about music with Ian and RS500Guy, then they left and I thought they'd gone home - till I found them outside. Maybe I should start smoking... unsure.gif

RS500Guy, check out Alexis Korner.

Oh, that's just my irresistible charm - stops the traffic every time. biggrin.gif
hughk
It was a shame that we lacked the appropriate gehnemigung for our construction efforts by the CT, but it was probably drier there than running for Catwalk. Btw, RS500guy, you are a hero for not only managing to remain out the whole night but managing to the that photo loaded today.

Yep, the Chinese Tower Sub-Aqua club was kind of fun, but I was so wet that even my yo-yos were dripping when I paid at Catwalk. I must confess to taking one step outside Catwalk, noticing a conveniently placed taxi, saying "Sod that" and catching it home. I left BlueDave, amongst others discussing a gay parade with Ian.

Any updates for this week?

Weather is looking like it will be as good as last week. wink.gif

Pschorrkeller in Viktualienmarkt?
GreenTea
Last Friday's weather was superb - full-on biergarten scorcher followed by an awesome apocalyptic storm with spectacular thunder and lightning. Tomorrow looks like being very tame in comparison.
CitizenSmith
I'm looking at a place with a better outside option. We'd like to be able to sit outside if at all possible.
GreenTea
If you want to do a Tollwood FBG, tomorrow will be the last chance.
CitizenSmith
Hello all you Soggy people,

Sorry about the weather.

I’ve booked all the high tables to the left of the door at Café Blue. They have seats outside in case the weather suddenly perks up.

Café Blue
Implerstrasse 2
Munich Isarvorstadt
Tel. 089 74664693
U3/6 Poccistrasse
(Take the front of the train coming from town, continue in the same general direction once above ground, under the bridge, Café Blue is on the next corner.)

I booked the tables in the name of “Daniel H. Wilson who as you all know wrote that invaluable book that all modern households can’t do without: "How to Survive a Robot Uprising."

As usual every one is welcome, newbies and all, if you have problems finding us call or message me on 01733510658

Last time we went there we spent the evening discussing where to send Leisure Suit Larry and look what happened to him!

Hello, I moved to Munich a few days ago and don't know too many people yet, so I'll probably join you.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Christiane

PS What time do you usually meet?
CitizenSmith
Some will arrive around 6:30 and some later, the bulk is usually there by about 8

Well, nice to see somebody is taking responsibility for it at last. Are you gonna have it fixed soon?

Is that a very scary bridge? Coz I have a weird phobia about walking under bridges. Some are OK, but some send me into a totally inexplicable blind panic. Does anyone else suffer from this kind of thing, or is it just me? unsure.gif

I'll be there as per my usual M.O. blink.gif

GreenTea
Oh well, thanks for confirming that I'm weird. rolleyes.gif
CitizenSmith
Yes I'm afraid to say as scary bridges go this one is fairly scary.

As I see it you have other options here are just a few:
You could go to Implerstr and walk back.
You could go to Kolumbus platz and cross back over the river...(Ah, you can't cross water either if I remember correctly!)
You could arrange to meet someone with a bag to put over your head and lead you under the bridge.
You could sing something jolly to yourself and just go for it.

*We may have to run though, to avoid the Troll.

No, no problem crossing water - you must be thinking of someone else. Kolumbusplatz is miles away though.

Will probably go for that one. Best way to conquer fears is to meet them head-on. Need to think of a song to sing. Suggestions?

Ooh, a cavalier! If I'm there that early, I might keep the bag over my head til we get to Cafe Blue, and take it off later when everyone's wearing their beer goggles.
