No Allershausen, he will not be attending.
Its just me in a wig and some goofy teeth. Right?. And I will not be giving anyone taxation advice either. And even if I were the real Ken Dodd, he doesn't give taxation advice anyway! He's a comedian!

I didn't see any knots. Hey! I think we have more than enough comedians now thank you!

Where would you like to go? We're always open to new venue suggestions, if you have a fave call it out. Of course you may be publicly riduculed for it, but that's the risk you take!
(I'm only joking, new venues are always welcome)EDIT: I've just read your profile, getting you to make a decision may be a problem, judging by your home town post!

I don't get out much, and when I do, it's usually down to
Kilians. So I am relying on the much more experienced of you in the TT crew to guide me.

EDIT: I amended my profile so as not to appear so schitzo.

Have have been to Both.. They are modern looking places, which are very popular.
In addition to Beer, they also have cocktails and a Happy hour.. You have 3 days to checkout
the location yourself should you have to desire too.

not that I will be going as I have other plans, but isn't
Ratskeller kind of pricey?
Darkknight
Nov 21 2007, 4:32 pm
Reading thru their
website and downloadable menus, their meals vary from 3-14 Eur.. Nowhere near Pricey in my book...
Their buffets for parties avg between 20-60 Eur per person.. Still not that bad.. As for drinks, a .50 beer will set you back 3.60..

I've booked 25 places at the Augustiner Restaurant.
Augustiner Großgaststätten
Neuhauser Straße 27
AugustinerThe table is booked in the name Johnny English, remember this because it's a big place and finding us will be a pig otherwise.
you can call me on 01733510658 or Ian 01728227752 if you have trouble finding us.
The table is booked for 7pm

we'll be back to
Ratskeller soon folks so don't fret.
We'll certainly go to
all the places suggested here. Only, one at a time.
We
have been to most of them in the past. Except for Beans & Mash. Which we'll check out at some stage.
The criteria for choosing a place is currently like this:
- Can it take a variable sized crowd.
- Do they sell normal beer? Do they have food?
- Can we travel there in a reasonable time? Not too far out?
- Have we been there too recently?
- Have we been to that part of town too recently?
- Is it easy to move around and mix? Get to know everyone there.
We can't manage all of these. But we try to please everyone and also try to find new places that suit.

Seeing as both B&M places can seat over 400 people... Yes
Yes, Yes
As long as you don't consider Rotkreuzplatz or
Karlsplatz as "Not too far out"... Yes
No
Don't know, but this weeks location is only a 10min walk away from the Karsplatz location
Locations big enough for 400+ people.. You figure it out

It seems that this week we're going more agricultural! But they might sell you a cocktail in a Mass glass with a real umbrella.

This reminds me of the weinschorle they sell at the chinesetower, you can get them but you have to have a mass, by my reconing you get about 2/3 of a bottle in each one

I've never been served well in an Augustiner restaurant. They seem to calculate that with their brand name they do not need to care for service or politeness. Sadly, yesterday was no exception. From their miserly Halbe beer (you pay 3,50 Euro for 0,5l, you get 0,4) to our dim-witted Polish waiter who poured beer on my shirt and never apologised, it was all in best Augustiner style. It love to meet the FBG group but I will never set a foot again in a Augustiner restaurant!

Nov 24 2007, 4:20 pm
It's difficult to understand why it's so popular. The service is poor, not just the Polish guy, the food is mediocre and fairly expensive and as you say, they serve short measures. Pretty hopeless really.

I actually rose to the challenge. I just held up my 0.4 beer and said "again". He knew what to do, and took it away and brought a full one.
The following time I was disappointed that it was a full one (well, 0.49!) as I wanted to send it back again.
Yep. Augustiner is off the list.
But the highlight was when he poured a whole beer over Leisure Suit Larry's head! Brilliant!
