So what is the story with Muenchner Singles?

Is it very much a dating thing where if you turn up, but you are not actually looking for a relationship, it is like "What are you doing here?" or is it more a chat thing with events where you can go and pass the time like TT?

It might be a good way of breaking out the Munich English-speaking scene a bit, and would be good for my German - not fluent but upper intermediate level.

Perhaps you could try looking at their website.

This particular event isn't a dating thing, but an English practice evening. Though I must say that everyone there spoke marvellous English.

Especially that bloke from 'up north' wink.gif

gee, really? I would never have thought of that myself. I wanted to get comments from people that have actually used this website, as personal experiences tend to be more informative than what websites claim for themselves.

Well I did actually join, and had only a quick look at it. It does seem at first glance to have some resemblances to TT, with Forums such as the buy and selling and so forth. One thing though is that before you can actually post anything you have to pay the monthly subscription, which was not very expensive. And when you sign up it is abit tedious having to constantly write things about yourself before you get a userprofile.

I thought you liked that sort of stuff - you can write about being a genetic infantryman wink.gif

I joined muenchener-singles about 4 months after I came to Munich, Nighthawk, who some of you may know started up the German-English Stammtisch, which was an opportunity for Germans & Brits to get together, speak Enlgish and have a laugh in the beer gardens. It was a great event and its a shame it died off*

Then Nighwhawk showed me TT, I initially avoided this site as it was very Cliquey and at the time was English speaking people only, if you were any other hint of a nationality you were kicked off imeadiately!! tongue.gif

Anyways, yes, MS has its dating area, but it also has a lot of what TT has in the case of events and such going on. They are not anti english on the site, I guess the only pre-requisite is that you post in German. Even if you do post in English(As I did a few times), people usually are friendly enough to answer in English also.

*Someone should start it again!!

That's not true. It was for native English speakers, not English people exclusively. Myself, Showem and various other non-English were involved from the get go.

What I meant was non English in the sense that your native language wasnt English, even though people could have spoken and typed it clearly.
OhFFS
We should have kicked Keydeck off, then wink.gif
