I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'm trying to find an apartment that will accomodate my husband, me and our 8.5kg dog. We're being told this isn't possible. I don't understand, I thought Munich was supposd to be dog friendly. Can someone please help me, or direct me to the right place?

Thank you,
Diana

I don't understand either, we've lived in two apartments now and absolutely no trouble about the dog. Where are you looking? Who is giving you this information? What kind of dog is it?

Things seem to be changing. I'd always heard that dogs, cats, kids, whatever - were no problem in most rented flats in Germany, but every flat we looked at and both we've lived in had a no pets clause, which, coming from England, seemed perfectly normal to me. Landlords seem to be getting generally more cautious since the changes in the law giving more protection for tenants and this is one of the ways it is coming out.

Have you tried using the Immobilien Scout website search for an apartment? You can put in your criteria and even have emails sent to you when apartments matching your needs are listed. Then in the details of each listing you can see if pets are allowed.

Go to "Wohnungen Mieten" and then select "Bayern" and then from there the town(s) you're interested in and then put your criteria in.

Good luck and hope things work out.
