English and Irish pubs in Wiesbaden and Mainz

Where to find the area's English-speaking scene

Hi there,

does anyone know of any good English / Irish pubs in Wiesbaden? I have tried to find them but no luck so far.

Are there any organised meet-ups? It seems all the good stuff is over in Frankfurt. Maybe its time for Wiesbaden to fight back!

Anyone out there interested?

I am regularly in Wiesbaden for work, and have not really found anything yet. In fact, you can probably walk through Wiesbaden in one afternoon. Although its quite nice for relaxing in one of the nice beer gardens around there.

Hi,

I used to live in Frankfurt, and in Wiesbaden for four months.

Whilst not a great fan of Weisbaden I do know that there is an Irish pub (it may be an English pub but doubt it) where loads of the expats hang out. So as a start that is your best bet... especially now as the World Cup is on.

Good luck!

Hi!

I have been offered a job in Wiesbaden and am currently mulling it over (am based in the UK at the minute). The chances are though by the sounds of what they are offering me i will probably take it. Would be cool to chat to anyone in Wiesbaden or Mainz cos i'll be new there!

There are essentially three Irish Pubs in Wiesbaden (at least in central Wiesbaden):

Danny Boy Irish Pub - inside the shopping center between Mauritiusplatz and Michelsberg (can't remember the name of the shopping center - Galleria something, I think - but it's almost empty because it's going to be redeveloped).

'The' Irish Pub which is a basement pub on Michelsberg

Scrooges Pub (also in Mainz) which used to be called 'Paddy Go Easy' and is on Goldgasse.

The latter isn't really an 'Irish' pub at all - although it still has 'Irish Pub' written on the wall from when it was. Nevertheless it's still one of the main 'ex pat' meeting places in town. Note: No Guinness (!)

Scrooges Pub is best in summer because you can sit on the street, although it's beer is - let's just say - NOT the best in Germany

The Irish Pub, Wiesbaden at Michelberg 15 (near the pedestrian zone) is your best bet! They have live music and the Karaoke nights on Tuesdays are good!!! They have Guinness, Kilkenny and Newcastle Brown Ale on tap! The staff are an international bunch. I lived in Wiesbaden for some years and had many a good night there!

There is another location called "Sherry and Port" in the Adolfsallee, in front of the fountain. They are specialised in beer: Guinness etc. and at the weekend they offer live-jazz jams sessions.
