Leo gives kingly, lordly, noble and precious - just cant see any of those fitting with chocolate and I see this quite often added to the type of chocolate bar. Anyone know the translation.
Just curious,
Thanks

Fine chocolate.
You don't have one for test purposes lying around by any chance ?

Thanks yeti - was just curious. Unfortunately, I dont have a test bar laying around - it is not on my diet plan at the moment. I just keep seeing it and always wondering what it meant and finally remembered to leo it and then when that didnt yield and answer, I naturally went to TT.
Thanks again

maybe, this is just an idea, a chocolate can be edel when it contains above a certain percentage of chocolate.

I think Edel just means, "the best", or "really good". Augustiner make an Edelstoff beer that is slightly nicer than their regular brew.

Incorrect, on at least two counts.

Nah, Edel means 'UrbanAngel's'. So if you see Edelschokolade anywhere, just give it back to me, as I obviously mislaid it, and things'll be fine.

Edelstoff is nothing but the "Export" beer from Augustiner, but not better or something. Export beers are brewed all over Germany and normally have more alcohol than the normal brew.
In terms of chocolate bars, "Edel" can only be used, if they provide a certain level of cocoa to their chocolate.
