Since I have been here nearly a year now(English) andIhave really enjoyed my stay, it surprised me how one hankers after the most trivial things, just because you cannot get them at all, or what you can get is not quite the same. the desire grows out of proportion, things like mature cheddar cheese, quality Indian food (Indian food in Bavaria is expensive and very poor)Hellmans Mayo, good tea bags' quality steak, although thanks to TT I have managed to get versions of some of these products from the web(home foods etc).
To come to the subject I was amazed to find when my son and I went skying with the truly excellent Parallel Sking School that we had a real problem getting boots and socks to fit big feet. We are both size 13/14 or it seems 50 locally. Now I do not expect these sizes to be stocked every where but they are easy to get in the UK and when I was in the States. As far as socks we both play Basketball and even visits to two Basketball kit suppliers in Germany revealed max sizes of 46.
Anybody know where to get tube socks size 50-52 high leg?

Hirmer Grosse Grössen doesn't just cater to the more round gent but also for the taller one, so they also sell huge socks. Big size shoe stores (do a search, there's a few around the Sonnenstr.) will also stock. Lowa make hiking boots in that size so should also stock the socks (saw them in their sample sale).
There's quite a few gents on TT with size 13+ feet, surely someone else has some tips?

I cant help too much, but near
Stachus there is a large shoe shop that realises that some people have feet larger than size 46.
When I was after some sports shoes, I went to about 10 different shoe shops who all said that shoes and socks dont exist in sizes over 46. At this particular place they actually had a range of 47 to 56.
Ill hopefully remember the name of the shop and post it here when I remember

I feel your pain. I've got US size 13/European 46 or 47 size feet and it can be a major headache trying to find stuff here (though Germany is better than Belgium or France!). I can't think of any specific places, but in my experience I've noticed that often it's best to go to smaller stores than can special order stuff for you. Bigger shops tend to cater to what's standard and have little time or concern for "special" customers. Having said that, Runners Point at
OEZ have bigger sizes. You might want to try them.

Hi Clive, guess you remember from the course I also have plus sized feet. You might want to have a look at these guys:
WalkTall. They've sorted me out in the past for socks, shoes and what have you. Delivery to Europe is steep at £18, but if you can get someone in the UK to get them for you it's only a fiver. If you've got contacts in the US, most sports shops go up to that size, or you could try

Clive, I would like to feel your pain, but my senses are fogged by a public message here of "big feet, big ...", be it intentional or not.
And hell, I don't know where to buy plus-size socks in Munich.
Good luck.

Mercado Latino @ Viktualienmarkt?
Gerardo Gueldner Weinimport apparently also do steaks but I've never shopped with them.
This might be split into a new thread though. If you are ever in Frankfurt, there's quite a few Argentinian beef places in Sachsenhausen (used to share an office with the Aerolineas Argentinas multi-host project manager so had loads of Argies in the office).

Clive, it'd be cool if you can let me know if the meat there is good. I've had their Empañadas and they were fine.
