yesterday evening I saw what looked like a tour with 2 guys on ATV's (3 wheelers) and about 5 other people go-karting down the street near the Deutsche Museum.. I heard go-karts were street legal here in Munich but I didnt know there were organized tours..

do you know who organizes them and any contact info?

thanks!!

You can hire the ATVs (4 wheels) at the Allguth in Untermenzing, but they are expensive and only fun when you are trail riding.
Vanessa
eurovol.. have you seen anything with go-karts? do they have them at that ATV place?

I don't think go-karts are legal on the streets and what you saw probably had something to do with birthday celebrations. There is a place where you can go and ride go-karts though. Do a search as it was talked about here some time ago.

There were a couple of guys riding go-karts down Nymphenburger Str. near Rotkreuzplatz the other day. There was and advert on the side for where to rent them, but I didn't write it down. I'm assuming they are street legal because I have seen this a few other times too.

Go - Karts are legal on the streets here which is great as its so unusual for us English/ American etc. For more details of how you can rent these bad boys call Discover Munich on 01744559679. Soon there will be tours of the City too. The tours are not quite set up but for future bookings give me a bell.

These can not be go-karts that I know and love, but perhaps rails or modified ATVs. Is there a picture of what you are talking about?

This is a stripped down model of a go-kart.

What I'd like to know is is there a way to rent the really fast go-karts rather than the slowish versions they give to the regulars ?
Vanessa
@Tom17- I am no expert in these things.. but the photo you posted looks exactly like the ones I saw.. and a friend of mine commented that it was the faster version of the go-kart we saw.. and yes, GO KARTS are totally legal on munich city streets.. go get the groceries, pick the kids up from school.. take them to footie practice.. all on the go-kart.. very practical... :-)

Umm there is no space for groceries, kids or footballs. There is only space for 1 driver and that is it.

Rather astonishing, but true: due to new (?) EU regulations, karts can now obtain MOT approval and a certificate of road-worthiness in Germany, they are sold by SpeedKart and look like this:

The ones around town are slightly bigger than Tom17's...but similar, bigger tires...
Tom17
Not quite what I am used to but I guess it qualifies as a GoKart...

Well I never.
eurovol
Well I will!
